yeah, when the issue occurs a specific thread that handles audio increases to using the equivalent of an entire core which results in other things in that same thread being choked, when there are a significant amount of sound sources playing at once audio gets dropped as well as time stretched in some scenarios rather than just stuttering, the distortion is because the cpu is servicing a particular sound that hasn't been dropped which was longer than the effects which tended to stutter, which are usually shorter more rapid sounds
