Unable to download patch files [1103][20403]

So I just got a new mac, and since bootcamp is unavailable for the M1 chip, I had to use Parallels 17 for windows. I tried downloading the game, but the [1103][20403] error pops up whenever I try to open the launcher. I've tried running as an admin, going into the files and starting from ffxivboot.exe, but nothing has worked. I tried looking around on the internet as well but it seems like nobody has a solid answer.

Disable controlled folder access in Windows security settings.

Worked for me, thanks! Had the launcher allowed but the boot was still blocked for whatever reason.

For anyone getting the error, hit your Start Menu and type "controlled folder access" (or Settings (gear icon) > Updates & Security > Virus & Threat Protection > Manage Ransomware Protection). Then choose Allow an app through Controlled folder access > Add an allowed app > Recently blocked apps. You should see the FFXIV files there. Add ffxivboot.exe and ffxivlauncher.exe. Not sure if it's necessary but I also have ffxiv_dx11.exe added.

Seven Hells, that took some digging.

This "Controlled Folder Access" was driving me nuts because I can't access it, and when I finally got access to it, it wasn't working for the update -> then I had to slap myself because I then realized I'm using a different Anti-Virus program.

For anyone using another Anti-Virus (Norton/Macfee/Avira) you will need to check those Programs for their exceptions too. There should be a firewall option in the program to add exceptions, and add the files Gilliam listed. Windows or your Antivirus may automatically snap on its firewall when the other is disabled (that's what mine kept doing D: ). So you may need to check to make sure both are disabled until your update is downloaded.

Mine seems to be running now, thanks guys!
