They always just replace hotbar 1 for me...My main gripe with them besides they tend to feel slow, is that they put the actions on the pet action bar, which is not convenient for me at all. My keybinds and location of the pet action bar work well for that purpose, but are annoying af for combat and hamper my movement.
I enjoy it. It replaces a cutscene with something interactive, and they do a good job with it.
Looking for RP on the First!
Getting to play as other characters is a standard rpg thing. I'd like to see more of it with more in depth battles, not less.
personally I'm disappointed I couldn't use death of the seventh dawn as urianger to finish lunar odin
it makes sense though that these battles feel longer- the jobs are stripped down so less to do. Plus the scions arent the wol who is considerably more powerful than the rest put together (with maybe the exception of graha with his strength of plot device)
I gotta admit, I actually enjoy those duties and getting to play as a different character, especially since, while their kit usually emulates a specific job, it's very unique to them and is something you otherwise wouldn't get to experience.
The scripted-defeat battles, though, I'll agree we could do without. I'd much prefer to watch a cutscene where I get my bum handed to me than completely destroy an opponent for several minutes via gameplay only for them to push the 'I win' button and render the entire fight pointless in one fell swoop.
I love them. Please keep they coming!
Ok? Seems like a valid point. So how much of endwalker will be the horrible suffering of having to play as random scions?
I want to play the character I made. Not as the devs characters.
Now the ONE exception to this could be the scripted loss fights. If you are going to force me to lose no matter what I do (nevermind that should never be a thing, just make that nonsense a cutscene) then losing the fight as another scion would be okay. Enjoyable even.
For most cases, when the game has you playing as another character it's been done in a flashback or to show a part of a bigger fight in the story where you personally aren't present.
I love them. I remember way back when the first one happened with Alphi and how that just absolutely blew our minds.
I do agree on the scripted defeat. Don't make me think I can win that. I definitely want to see more of these and more of them with in depth battles. I do think the commentary about how the game puts things on hobar 1 is valid criticism. Maybe they can implement an option so that dynamically maps to follow someone's customized mapping instead.
