Thread: Is Pre-Downloading a Thing?

Anybody have any insight on if we have a download option prior to login when servers are up at 1am?

Just a topic that came up in my FC that I hadn't thought about. Would be nice to be able to have it installed prior to 1am launch to cut in the login queue a bit...

Yes and no. At some point tonight before 1am they updates will be done, at that time they will allow you to log in with your client and download the update. But the Launch button will be greyed out until 1am.

yup waiting around here for that button to appear or going to bed early to wake up uber earlier is the main question here....

For PS4/PS5 players, was that something that traditionally downloads in sleep mode or is that a "login to start download" thing too?

Yoshida said during the patch note stream that it's going to be available to download at some point in the afternoon JST. It's currently 8 AM there, so don't expect it for a while still.

The app always updates before I can even get to the login screen. The moment I open the game, I'll get a notification "this application has an update!" and then I just sit back and let it do its thing.

It should be automatic if you have auto updates turned on.

Semi related, I bought the expansion on ps4. I got a ps5 yesterday but I don't have the countdown like I do on ps4 for the early access. Will it just work or is there something I have to register?

Updates are supposedly going to start afternoon Japanese time. It's 8:10 am in Tokyo now. We always get the updates well in advance of mantenance ending.
