Compared to blm who yes has those abilitys but they are on cooldown so once used you have more downtime than rdm completely. Duel casting every spell constatly is superior to triple cast due to the cooldown plus it takes up a keybind slot outside rdms doesnt. So honestly rdm doesnt even need a movement ability since they can due it base without a drop, plus it can go in and do auto mele combo so there is almost no downtime unless your not even trying.
The problem is most of that mobility on red mage goes to waste. On paper yes, they're mobile 50% of the time, but that mobility cannot be banked for when it would be useful.

Say... pantokrator. Liquid Hell. Stormy Horizon. E9s vines. Some combinations of Basic and Intermediate Relativity. Any mechanic that requires prolonged movement will be taxing for a red mage because the most they can bank for more than 2.5s of movement is swift (5s of movement) or melee combo. As of right now the Melee combo can be banked for all of maybe 4gcds if you're lucky before you're losing damage for overcapped resources. This will be mitigated in EW, but at the cost of E Reprise being any kind of useful at all.

I don't mean to advocate red mage is the most galaxy brain thing out there, but pretending it's as simple as you do is a disservice to the effort behind the design and to players looking to pick it up.

I think the issue is that there's no class which is WAY easier or WAY harder than others. People say it's the easiest, but the difference between the hardest and the easiest class is not that big, for a casual player it can be nearly non-existent.
People expect their game to turn into an EASY mode with a specific class, but that's just not the case. You are always within the same difficulty level with just marginal differences which are highly subjective.

When I want to prog...I hop on RDM. It's so versatile and you don't really lose your spot in your rotation. Even for a mage.

BLM is very restrictive and kinda makes me sad when I have to move. Especially....ESPECIALLY when I lose enochain. Nothing is more world crushing then losing enochain with 25 seconds left until you can reapply it. I tend to stay away from BLM.

SMN - Holy balls get on the roller coaster? The current iteration of SMN is literally "Keep Up! and don't screw up your cooldowns!" I like it, but can't wait for the new SMN in EW.

RDM is just flexible. I don't lose my spot from movement, it has dualcast which is basically swift cast every other cast. Pretty much watch the gauge and see what mana you need. Hit 40 white/black, manafication, Embolden, unload your mana.
