    Packet loss. I'm on the verge of giving up.

    I am creating this thread to reiterate that these packet loss issues are NOT resolved. I have taken all advice that SE generically has offered in other posts and have invested hours of my own time in trying to isolate and resolve the issue. Having to invest in a VPN is absolutely not an appropriate solution to this problem, either.

    Please; this needs addressed. The game is completely unplayable for me at these packet loss rates.

    If I can't get it fixed I'll be refunding Endwalker, and cancelling my sub indefinitely. I'm sorry Square Enix; I tried.

    With that IP it's normal to see packet loss. It doesn't mean YOU are getting packet loss though. That IP address just doesn't respond to pings.

    Example of my current connection. Hops 12 & 15 show packet loss but that's normal. My game connection is perfectly fine.



    This however is an example of network problems.

    While I won't disagree with ICMP traffic and the responses, the difference is that I'm experiencing severe latency/disconnect issues in game. My game connection is not fine; and there are many factors contributing to that.

    Are you playing over WiFi or ethernet cable? Might want to switch to the cable otherwise. VPNs are cheap, like i put $10 on my Mudfish VPN about 3 years ago, and I have $9.14 left on the balance. It's pennies a month.

    The last few hops on a tracert will almost always be non-responsive to Ping due to those routers and the server will firewall/black-hole them for security reasons.
    Its the traffic between the last hops and the second hop that are outside of both your control and SE's control.
    On those hops, SE can't fix a provider's node just as you can't fix the cable that knocked out on the other side of town when a truck hit the pole.
    SE can advise the owners of the node(s), but it's up to those owners to fix the issue.

    That said, most of the issues that players are having and most of the tracert's posted over the last few weeks show issues within NTT's network.

    literally there is nothing you can say to make NTT do it's job like it's supposed to.

    I've been having a lot of issues (2002, 9006, 9002 errors for a few weeks now but much worse this week) yesterday I couldn't even log in but a vpn did seem to help a bit? I'm not sure what exactly this means and what other fixes there could be.

    If a VPN helps then it is an indicator that there is a traffic problem between some internet service providers/carriers. We had such problems here in Germany between Telia and Deutsche Telekom. They had only a 30GBit gateway between their networks and in the evening it ran full and the players had huge connection problems, high latency, packet loss etc. There are two things you can do against it: choose another internet service provider or use a VPN.

    As for everyone and OP, if server connection is the main source of problem. Everyone will get disconnect and experience lags - this is not the case and only 1% of the players are having issues. 99% is the connection line quality by the service provider - either congested and lack of investment to allow more bandwidth.

    There are way more people on Internet today than pre-covid. Traffic is getting heavy.

    It's easy to blame on SE when you have having problem with their service while you never came across and think - am I the only one? If yes, that is something on your end.
