Concern over Reaper Avatar appearance

It makes sense, it's a combination of the reaper and you. Your face and the reapers body.
The reaper has no horns, tail or ears:


Obviously they took the easier way when creating the look, taking all racial features into consideration when changing into the avatar form would require way more work and the form would have to be adapted for every possible new future race. However, in the end it still makes sense when you think about it in the way I mentioned above.

I will say it is kinda important for the shape shifting they decided.

They could have done a full transformation that would ve slightly different for each race, and allow people to pick what voidsent they use.

Like lalafells becoming a imp, au ra a succubus etc
Now then what about the weapon it should go away and only use voidsent abilitys for that time, changing ur attacks to something a void sent would use during the mood. Similar to Vincent
