Is it okay to trade gil to other players?

    Hello!

I'm a new player and I'm already really in love with the game. I play the game with my husband and he keeps wanting to trade me 500k and I keep telling him to wait because I'm afraid we'd get in trouble since I guess there is some issues with RMT and I'm not sure how GMs tell the difference between trading a large sum of gil between friends vs fake currency accounts. Does it depend on how frequently the account shares gil and how much is traded at a time? Should we just avoid the situation all together? I'm just bad with gil management and he isn't and he always wants to help so I can keep up. There wouldn't be any actual money exchanging hands; just two friends/spouses sharing resources in-game. Is there a log to prove it?

We've just invested IRL money (and obviously time) in it so we don't wanna break any rules. Any clarification is appreciated! Thank you!

Trading gil is perfectly fine. Even trading large lump sums is fine. GMs don't monitor that.

I've been given 25 million before as a lump sum and there's been no issue. I've also given millions over the course of my two to three years of playing. 500k is basically just pennies tbh.

When it comes to gil there's nothing to worry about. It's when real money gets involved that it gets their attention.

Personal trades are fine. I have given away a lot of gil. Just know it does limit one million per trade. 500k is nothing anyways when you think about it he could buy you a set of lvl 80 gear that is easily over 500k.

I did a cross data center trade for about 5 million gil twice now. An alt of mine got 5 mil on their data center, and I gave them 5 mil gil on my data center. This allowed the alts to have enough pocket money for an easier time leveling.

I think that kind of movement is something they monitor on a macro scale (since millions of gil going to lower level characters is what RMT banks do) but they won't contact your or ban you if you... you know.... play the game normally and aren't an RMT bot.

They do. I've seen FCs where some generous member trades a few million to several other members, and that's gotten them in trouble (but also subsequently cleared on GM review).

It seems trading to a single person or very few people won't get you flagged for RMT, but it is there and monitored.

I can understand Labrys's hesitance though - some other online games have far more aggressive algorithms that issue completely automated bans that can arise from a single transaction. And as with pretty much any online game, the chance of an appeal is just about zero.

This thread is adorable. Reminds me of thinking I was cheating when I mailed stuff to an alt in WoW

Keep on trading OP, it's perfectly legal!
