Let me argue against myself: (Good logical arguments)
1. Cost effectivness: I could potentially cost to much money to produce such a title.
2. Copyright laws: If there was a copyright that prohibited such a game. (But there isnt)
3. FFXIV: Yes the game just came out, assuming that it lasts 10 years it would give the company enough time to produce the new MMORPG.

THOSE ARE GOOD ARGUMENTS! "Not said storyline is gunna be horrible" that is a horrible argument.

what am I even reading, are you suggesting that it would be a "good argument" to suggest that Square doesn't own the rights to its own games

Has it come across your head that maybe everyone in this thread doesn't like your idea because it is actually horrible and not well thought out? No Devs is gonna take even a glance at this thread, this isn't how you propose an idea.

I dont care if everyone on this thread dislikes my idea. I still havnt heard an intelligent response and rather then blah blah blah (opinion) Which is funny because I came up with good arguments against myself. I see nothing but pessimistic ill thought out arguments based on opinion and closed minded banter. Ill tell you what, ideas no mater how little can grow to become giants and everything has a beginning.

I dont want the devs attention and honestly like I said I dont feel that even if SE took heed to even the thought of a fraction of an idea of a MMORPG multiverse I wouldnt want them to make it because they are horrible as a company. The only thing they have in the near future that even looks remotely promising isnt even of their own fruition (Tomb Raider).

I could counter your argument with why arent you guys running with the idea instead of being negative? Every argument made was a what if? What if the game is bad? What if its deluded? What if, What if, What if? You think that the FF universe would even exist with that mentality?! NO! Not all ideas are created equal and are good sure but they can be molded into greatness. If you want me to sit and write up an essay with research, statistics, and numbers I bet my money I would get the same lame responses.

The cold hard truth. People disagree for the sake to disagree, have no solid reasons to disagree, have illogical opinions that are ill thought out, and refuse to look at both sides.

Here is a thought why not try this out I wont even conisder your opinions until you weigh both the pros and cons in your post. Then and only then do you have a shred of thought in your arguments. Use that thing called a brain and critically think.

Why would it be a bad idea?
Why would it be a good idea?
What is considered when making a game?
What resources is this gunna take?

-Time
-Current and future projects
-Support
-Current and future technology

These are things that must be considered not petty crap that has been brought up. I started the conversation and either be a critical part of it or your wasting both my and your time.

I'd rather play a FF game for an amazing original story, character, settings, gameplay. If I wanted to play an older FF game, I'd just pop in an older FF game. They may be nostalgic, but the Final Fantasy series marches onward for better or worse. Look back at the "classic" games. How many people would play those if they came out for the first time today? Sometimes you have to take off the rose-tinted nostalgia glasses. Those old games were neat at the time, but I'd rather look to the future and see what they come out with.

Sure FFXIII and launch FFXIV are said by many to be stinkers, but it doesn't mean the end of everything and the need to have to make new stuff re-hashed "good old times". Yoshi's 2.0 will be a new story, in a new, very FF-esque world, with new characters. But it will have elements of previous FF games like the Crystal tower, and other references and all that jazz. I think that fits the idea of "Final Fantasy Online" better than visiting old worlds, stories, and characters. Let's look to 2.0 instead, and see what happens! To progress!

We came to like each story and their characters on their own. Each world was unique and so were the characters in them. Putting them all together to force a story won't turn out well.

A professor once asked our class if we believe in abortion or the death penalty. Then he asked why and half the class couldnt back up their reason. This is what is happening here. Do you understand what I am getting at. I am not closed minded and if anyone here could actually give a smart reason to why it wouldnt work I would most likely agree 100%.

Dude read all the posts before you make a comment. Who said they had to even see eachother? Why is everyone so damn close minded? My point being is your getting more originality from taking from the FF series then coming up with an (Original storyline?)! Laughable.
