Improve healing UI for ppl with genetic eyes disease (On pc)

    Hi all!
Sorry for my bad English. Nice to meet you all: I am new to the game, but I love everything: Lore is so exciting, charachters look so cool, classes are so immersive, the gameplay is nice. I love that you can increase the dimention of UI and move it everywhere. One of the most wonderful thing is the "Simple" mode of the Job Gauge: normal one has too many visive effect and make me distracted.
BUT I have an epic big problem: the healing frame make me headache and nausea.
I have 2 differents eyes disease. One is called Retinitis Pigmentosa, one is Macular Edema. There are some period of the year, when medication finish their effect, that I am not really able to see writtens on screens and little icons effect. Everything is a bit confused and look like that I see a bit of fog everywhere.
I would like to have a "simple mode" of party list, and will be able to heal while I see less information on my screen. I dont see the white border around debuff icons that I have to dispel. The image of debuff are too much articolate, I dont really care to see every icon image. I want to see a little colored square with a countdown inside that shows me a countdown to see how long a debuff lasts. I dont care much to see others ppl buff (Like damage increased etch). Have to see the yellow castbar during every spell casted of my party is making me crazy, and distract me from check if my party has a debuff to dispel.
I would like to see only my buff on party list (like my hp regen over time effect, if they got my fairy heal, if they got my CR). I dont care to see if a bard made everyone run fast, I can check easy my personal buff effect.
And space betweens ppl hp is too big: if I have to increase dimention of frame due the fact that I dont see icons, it takes up half of the screen, and I cant see what boss is doing. I would like to dont see the big number under the hp bar: I am ok to see only the % of hp left, or nothing: the hp bar is enough to see, no need to add numbers ^^
I am sorry if I look like rude, but I am an healer from others games, and I never had all these problems with healing frame, here there are a lot of over information: I would like to have it simpler, more customizable with hidden option and being able to decide the space betweens every guy in the list. And maybe decide the color of hp bar, like it change color if someone has a debuff that I am able to dispel, and hp bar change his natural color in base of hp left (green 100% hp, yellow 50%, red if around 20%). and maybe, see my shields effect on hp bar. Of course, the hp bar must be a much bigger square, withouth all the black border.
I would like also to be able to see under my target (like hp bar of the boss) only my buff/debuff effect, and his own, not everything that my party do at the boss ^^ is making me really confuse, my eyes starts burn, and my head explode. I want being able to check easy if I have to apply again my debuff on boss, withouth loose myself in the process

FYI you can currently do this, under the 'Character Configuration' menu, (default keybind 'k'), select the 'UI Settings' option on the left side, then under the 'HUD' tab, scroll down to the 'Target' subsection, and check the box for 'Display Only Detrimental effects you inflict.' This will make it so you only see effects you inflict on others

Like you, visual limitations complicate my ability to play as well. I'm legally blind and use color, movement/motion, muscle memory, instinct,... and a large monitor to play. I wish that we could set up the UI to be more user friendly and to accommodate these hurdles, but at this time, we're still limited to working with what is there.

There's a lot I cannot see, so I moved things around so I could make the party box bigger, and I pay attention to the color and general length of the health bar while looking for a white bar on buffs.... A white bar means I might hopefully be able to remove it somehow.

I'm not great, but for a guy who only has PARTIAL vision in one eye, most cannot tell I'm disabled; many are actually floored a blind guy just helped heal their dungeon / raid. They just either think I'm slow (which is true) or perhaps not as skilled as others-- but hey, I can live with that if I still get to play.

I wish you good luck until a better solution can be found!

Edit: It has me listed as a Machinist Lvl 80, but I mostly play my White Mage and also have a Blue Mage at 70.

Idk if you can see the image: but this is a frame that I found on internet, and I like it much: is very simple, clean, with no many things. I would only add the famous square with the debuff icon on the top down, and my buff (like whm hp regen) on the top of it of it (both on right side). and when there is a debuff that we can dispel, the square change the color. when someone is dead, the square is gray or black. the hp bar will change color in base the hp left (orange half hp, red under 30 or 20, and similar. well, if we could regolate the color of everything, I think that many ppl with eyes disability will be happy: my disease will make me also not able to feel the difference betweens some colors (like shocking pink and red, etch). Well, maybe one day I will be legally blind too, Idk, is something genetic. But I think that many of us enjoy this gameand change the healing frame would be nice

Those look like WoW type frames and my goodness I dislike those personally. Those types of frames are actually what turned me off of healing in WoW. I like the way the FF party frames are displayed and find them easy to read and manage; more so than in other games I played. So much so that I actually looked for an addon in WoW that would make their party frame look like the one in FF.

THAT SAID... as long as they do not replace the frames that are already there, and leave them for those that love them, I would be more than happy to see options to customise the UI how you want. Perhaps toggle buttons in the settings or some such. Never hurts to have more options.

I dont want to have it as default: like I said, is just because I have serious eyes problems, and I cant enjoy FF healing frame, because, for me, is too much chaotic, and I cant see some things, like debuff that I have to dispel. I need more semplicistic type for avoid nausea Q-Q Have both option could make everyone happy.

I heard that FF community made sage symble change due to a bad phobia, that make ppl feel incredible bad.
On FF you can increase UI dimension, and I reeeeeeeeally love it. Maybe is possible to help ppl with serious eyes problems, and help them enjoy this beautiful game. ^^ We are nerds too, we want play mmo until is possible.

Yeah, the image shown there is from a WOW addon (I played WOW for nearly 15 years) and while that would be great, it isn't an option at this time that I am aware of. Some may use Third Party things in FFXIV, but Yoshi and others have expressly said that third party tools are considered against TOS and they advise against them. I advise against them as well. What is worse than struggling? Getting into trouble and not being able to play. I wish I knew where to write or who to contact regarding programming within Square Enix to address some of these things. It was many years ago that I did any sort of programming, but the logic side to the way my brain works is still there-- and I'm hopeful that in time they will see that adding a few UI options to assist people with disabilities or simply as a helpful aid would be minor but incredibly useful.

Yeah, I would like to know how to write to them too ^^ for this reason I am asking community help: so, we can ask some help for our disabilites. Maybe ppl in Square Enix that work on UI could get some typs and make the game even more inclusive
