In all honesty, Babylon's Fall looks like on screen vomit and beyond generic.
I'd rather it stay far away from FFXIV.

It looks so unfocused too like they had no idea what they wanted to do and just threw everything they thought might '' appeal to Westerners '' on screen simultaneously.

I forgot it even existed until this thread and was just like '' oh yeah, THAT game ''.

Though if it's a serious fantasy game then it wouldn't be accepting half of what FFXIV puts out anyway.
The early to mid lvl gear is apparently from FFXIV, most of the gear sets in BF are their own beyond that.

True, but the fact that it was efficient to borrow all those gear designs suggests that they are compatible with each other, which makes it quite possible for some of it to be shared back in the other direction too.

I'll be interested to see how much gear has been shared, and which sets.

It's nice that Yoshida is allowing them to use some FFXIV assets to save time and money on making lower-mid level gear. I know one of the complaints in the beta was that there were a lack of gear variety, so this should help.

As for a crossover, I think that depends on whether Babylon's Fall is successful or not. So far its reception has been lukewarm and the beta didn't help change perception too much it seems, especially with it being "live-service." At least the developers give updates and make some changes based on feedback, so time will tell.

Despite being the creator of this thread, I have to say that I sort of feel the same way and didn't even immediately remember what game they were talking about in the article. I'm not a fan of all of Platinum's games as they're basically the near epitome of style over substance for me, with Nier Automata only being different because the only thing they really did was the combat, but in the case of Babylon's Fall it doesn't even have the style part down. Babylon's Fall just doesn't look good and doesn't sound like it plays good either based on reports from the beta tests they've done.

My interest is more in the practice of openly sharing assets between games. That could be both good and bad for development but in this case feels like it could also legitimately lead to cross over content coming the other way in the future. Given the extremely divided response to the Nier raids I really doubt that SE will do another full raid collab again. Heck they're gone more than out of their way to make very clear the EW 24 mans are not only not an outside collab but aren't even a collab with previous games in the FF series. I do think we could very likely see at least a temporary event if not something a little bigger like the permanent Monster Hunter crossover.

The story wasn't all that good or interesting, especially since I haven't played a single NieR game, but the raids were good imo and having my character suddenly walk in surroundings so different felt pretty damn cool.
We got screwed out of learning anything more about the First so that SE could push a blatant advertisement for another game in our faces.
