I only started a few months ago before the wow exodus and I never had an issue with Gil... I do not cheat and I do not run levequests AT ALL. I just farmed all the gwibs and ocassionally it dropped me the related scale/light/wings whatever material that I sold for 400-500k Gil per item.... For those who do not want to run these things over and over.

I personally think it is fair to ask for my time spent the Gil amount for those who do not want to suffer through a training group and learn the extremes.

In addition some people are just not taking time to learn the game to use marketboard properly.

Like how people sell items on the board below they actual market value. If you are a sprout and you do not understand that the item says it sells for 159 Gil (which would be the amount you get if you sell at a vendor) and you put that item up on the board for 89 Gil which will be even lower due the interest, then I am sorry bit it is your fault you are poor.
    This is all about reading.

I dunno about cheating and bots. I never seen one thank god. But I hope these will be solved in the future.

I usually report any RTM activity when I see one to get rid of those people.

There are no poor people there are just people in the beginner phase and people in the advanced phase. By the time a sprout reaches level 80 they should be able to have a couple million gil just by farming extremes and selling the items on the board, if they really want to have money and can bloody READ.
In this case there is no social system but there are FC houses where you have a shared asset if you think about it like that. Your involvement in the FC will eventually result in you getting your share.
I am even part of a linkshell where we help each other out...

All you need to have in this MMO RPG that is (as in the type name) about playing with other people, IS, to talk to other people, be kind, work together. People are very helpful. I hear stories every day of people gifting exarchig gear or mounts/ or minions to others randomly. Not to mention when you enter an FC...

You simply can't, because unlike rmt those crafters are never in the open, they're hiding in private / fc house were no one can see them crafting for days straight never moving or anything.
You can't have hard proof that someone is using bots when it comes to that unless they talk about it.
The only one you can spot are the gathering ones, and they're obvious. Using chocobos as only mount and doing the same thing / same flying route at the exact same timing each single time.

I dunno. To me, I think people overvalue Gil. It's easy to look at your low amount of Gil and think "Damn, it would be great to have more!" but if you had more you'd probably find there's not really a lot of value to it. Outside of a few times where you might want, say, a new hairstyle that just won't drop for you or some new crafted gear, there isn't really much use for Gil in the game. Not saying there should be more Gil sinks or big ticket items as these really just A.) do nothing to actually "hurt" those who already have Gil and B.) do nothing to "inspire" those who don't have Gil to somehow magically get more.

It could be useful to actually picture what you would do if you suddenly did have, for example, 500 Million Gil sitting in your bank. If you could literally buy anything on the Auction House or from an in game vendor that you wanted, what would you actually buy? And once you'd bought everything you wanted, then what?

And I say this as someone who rarely has more than around 10 million gil in the bank and actually does have to make decisions about buying a new haircut or piece of crafted gear. If you really want to make more gil, you can. You can do it quickly or slowly, but just having a ton of gil in your bank doesn't really mean as much as you think it will.

I'd buy a mansion and then all the furniture to put in it.

The worst part is if the company start implementing measures that 'checks' if you're a bot or not, it usually ends up solving nothing and making things worse for the actual players. You ban them, those botters will just make more accounts cause getting banned doesn't mean much for them. I've played several games where such measures were taken and good lord. There were also cases where actual players were getting banned instead too. It sucks that, as of now, there are no ways to win against botters.

    Wat?

Try actively doing content like maps, retainers, subs etc. Even leves have been shown to be a good source of income if you really can't deal with other people.

Gil is easily come by in this game.

Finally though I max'd them all to 80 along with DoL (except fishing but whatever.)

..I now have 3 million, that 3 million took an entire year. It is NOT as easy as people say it is. Yeah you can make a couple hundred with roulettes and dailies to be able to afford gear or maybe 1 expensive glam item.

But a mansion? I'll say it's never gonna happen for me, the small cottage I got is about all I'll ever afford at this rate. And yes, I'm crafting and doing extremes for feathers and whatnot. Still not easy.

And before you say it. I have 5 retainers, and I nolife the game only time I'm not playing is when sleeping/eating/bathroom.
    STILL. Not. Easy.
Lowkey sounds like you didn't know what you were doing if it takes you a year to make 3M.

Like others said, making gil is really easy in this game >>>If you know what you are doing!<<<

Of course i don't know how much time you spend per week in this game and its also true that getting your crafters to max level and buy the gear needs some investment before it starts to pay off. But thx to the firmament its far cheaper and easier than it used to be.

There are dozens of ways to make money in th is game, the trick is finding the right one for you and stick to it. IF you really are not trolling (im honestly still not sure), here some ways how i make my gil. Right now i don't do much in FF14 until the new exp comes out and i still make some money.

    1. Decide how you want to make you money (for example gathering, crafting, playing the MB with server hopping, Maps, buying stuff cheap from NPc and sell it on the MB, doing daily roulettes (dosnt give much but is a steady and dependable method), Bunny fates in Eureka (between 10k-100k per treasure)) and stick to it

    2. Check if the Stuff you retainers bring is worth something, if not give it to your GC to get marks and buy ventures or stuff that is worth a bit at the MB.

    3. Something that always sells and is needed are crystals, if you have miners or botanists with proper gear they can bring back up to 100 crystals each hour. Sell them in 1k or more stacks at the MB

    4. Dont waste your time with crafting the newest gear. If your DC is like mine the prices are very really, low search for something that is not sold that much. A good idea would be furniture, glamours, ship & sub parts. From my experience its better to search for something that isn't bought so often but it usually is more expensive and you don't have so much other crafters that also try to sell the same stuff.

    5. Selling expensiv stuff takes time, sometimes you sell nothing in a week, some times you make 10, 20 or more million in just one week. You need to have paition.

    6. If you have a good group or FC Maps are always a very good way to get money, depending on your luck you can make 2-3m in just one evening.
