Thank you.
I'm seriously tempted to put all but 10K on a retainer and see how much I net over the course of the 6.0 MSQ, assuming I'm patient enough to not level my DoH....the thought of all those lost leves hurts my heart though.
Thank you.

I'll probably do something similar, to be honest. This was my first expac and I got to see how to make money and how to save it too, so I'm interested in seeing how that pays off 6.0 This last year I ended with roughly 9mil on retainers and 13mil on my person and this is my first year playing.
absolutly not true its really possible to make money in this game, even when coming late !
POTD mount from floor 150/200 = 8 M in my server
the fiery mount from eureka = 6M in my server
if you really wanna make money do crafter and do glamours ! you can make a really huge amount of money if you dedicate yourself to it
but again all these require time investement thing that 95% of ppl dont wanna do because "im too lazy to even do it or understand how it works"
there are ways to make money !
but if you really want to make TONS of money glamour it is !
someone once said
"glamour is the real endgame of ff14" and believe me it is !

I wouldn't bother taking someone seriously who claims selling items on the market board is an exploit.
When you feel the need to do the leves, put all your MSQ gil on your second retainer, turn in your leves, add the leve gil to your first retainer, then get the MSQ gil back off the second retainer.
I did something similar with an alt I leveled over the summer when I wanted to see how much raw gil you get as quest rewards from doing all the MSQ versus gil earned from selling off the other quest rewards (gear, Allagan pieces, etc).
MSQ itself really didn't turn out to be all that rewarding when it came to raw gil. The end result was something like 1.8 million gil for 2.0-5.0 MSQ. That's after teleport and repair fees were subtracted (was not going to mess my head trying to get that detailed). I made about another 3 million selling the other quest rewards (and used that gil to buy gear upgrades when needed since MSQ progress was way behind character level).
If I was going to put in a guess right now, I'd say raw gil from 6.0 MSQ will probably be worth about 350k. The other rewards are more likely to be getting used than sold for profit this early in the expansion so hard to say how much we'll make from those.
The gil in this game is in the side content, not the MSQ. That doesn't mean just crafting/gathering. It's anything repeatable other than PvP or Gold Saucer. Even if the individual amounts seem small, they add up quickly as long as you keep doing content.
This just in, using the market board to sell things is an exploit.
Thank you clown for entertaining us on this slow day of not playing the game.
I have played since the original release, my toon is legacy, and Gil making is sooo EZ even without crafting 2 weeks ago I was under 100k, then some good rng on maps, and daily roulettes with a bit of gathering here and there and wala I am over 2 mil at the 2-week point... and that was playing just a few hrs here and there, so no its not that gil is hard to make its just you don't want to put any effort into making it...
