Unhappy with DC/Server choice.

Hi all. Been playing since June in a wave of WoW refugees. I choose the Famfrit server because I saw some streamer on it.

Im not very happy here. I can in to the reasons why if needed, but I am looking for something more casual, where people just chill. RP or not RP is okay but I just want something where people actually talk in FC chat and maybe sometimes in Discord. A server where people are not always in such a rush would be nice too.

I love the game, and no one is rude or mean or really toxic here but it isn't lad back enough for me here. Thanks.

Good luck finding an FC that's active in the FC chat, seems the FFXIV community hates the ingame chat and almost only uses discord.
I like to stay in the game and keep everything from the game in the game, just chilling spared all the real world garbage, but that doesn't seem to be possible unless you're okay always feeling like an outcast living in a dead ingame chat world.

Thank you. I have been playing MMO's a long time. I miss the days when in game chat was a constant wall of text. I guess maybe they will never return. Especially sucks cause I sometimes play on PS5 rather than PC. I dont want to rely on third party applications for...well, anything really. I don't understand it.

Yeah, seems we are the same, I remember those times too and miss them. I don't get what's so bad about the in game chat, it works perfectly fine.

Maybe I will feel more inclined to use Discord once it comes to PS5 which should be early 2022, if still on schedule.

the only thing lost here is the fact its not the game its the people playing. our FC has a busy chat when people are on, and when people are working, people use the discord. and really, really REALLY depends on teh FC. I mean you can have a hoping FC chat, where its only 4 people... or you can be losing messages in a wall of text after doing an instance.

1. people could be pushing to get to 80, so not much time to talk
2. some people just dont like talking
3. are YOU talking when people are online? I mean someone has to start the conversations

in some FC's there is a lot of chatter, in some there arent. most chatty FC's are going to likely be smaller and friendlier, but can tend to be friends sohmight be harder to fit in. These days, there are so many reasons why FC's might not be chatty.. and one of teh biggest reasons is... no one starts a conversation.

Im sure thats often true. I try to start conversations in what I would describe a relatively active FC. "Hows the day? Whats everyone doing tonight? Excited for Endwalker?" Sometimes one or two replies. Often nothing for hours. But you always see these people in /s or discord. It's really odd to me.

A lot of chat gets moved to Discord (for those FCs that have it) because you don't have to be online playing the game to talk with others in the FC, and it allows friends outside of the FC to join in as well. It passes a lot of the limitations of in-game communication.

There are still FCs that are chatty in game, though. They tend to be the midsized FCs that recruit based on a member already knowing the player (frequently real life friends and family) over those that mass recruit anyone and everyone. Most find it easier to be social around those they already know and like.

Mood. I started with EQ in 1999. I use Discord for non-game stuff but game related chat for me needs to happen in game. I have my own small FC and it does have a Discord and I chat there when I'm not in game, but I'm adamant that when I'm in game you talk to me there.

This is mostly how I feel as well. In all my years in this game, I have yet to find a FC that primarily chats in-game. It's a bit disheartening as you really do end up feeling like an outcast. I don't actually mind using VC, but the times I can get on are pretty rare and so the end result is effectively the same. :/

I ended up just making a solo-FC so that silence is 100% my own doing, but I'd still love to find a chatty LS/CWL to be able to BS and have fun with people in chat. Hopefully I can find something once the expansion launches. Having people to chat and play with makes any MMO far more enjoyable.
