Unhappy with DC/Server choice.

Hi all. Been playing since June in a wave of WoW refugees. I choose the Famfrit server because I saw some streamer on it.

Im not very happy here. I can in to the reasons why if needed, but I am looking for something more casual, where people just chill. RP or not RP is okay but I just want something where people actually talk in FC chat and maybe sometimes in Discord. A server where people are not always in such a rush would be nice too.

I love the game, and no one is rude or mean or really toxic here but it isn't lad back enough for me here. Thanks.

Beyond specific servers that RPers congregate on, I don't think there's that much difference between any of them. I'd recommend going to the Community Finder on Lodestone and finding a larger FC and see if they mention a Discord outright on there.

Good luck finding an FC that's active in the FC chat, seems the FFXIV community hates the ingame chat and almost only uses discord.
I like to stay in the game and keep everything from the game in the game, just chilling spared all the real world garbage, but that doesn't seem to be possible unless you're okay always feeling like an outcast living in a dead ingame chat world.

Thank you. I have been playing MMO's a long time. I miss the days when in game chat was a constant wall of text. I guess maybe they will never return. Especially sucks cause I sometimes play on PS5 rather than PC. I dont want to rely on third party applications for...well, anything really. I don't understand it.

Yeah, seems we are the same, I remember those times too and miss them. I don't get what's so bad about the in game chat, it works perfectly fine.
Here's to a couple of mmo old timers lost in the confusing new world, lol. * downs a shot of copium hoping for the good ol' times to return *

Right now is also the lull between expansions. Chatting and populations are going to go up as soon as the expansion drops.

I've only been in 4 FCs since I started the game and chatting in-game is completely dependent on the individual people more than anything else. You could be in a giant FC where no one talks. I was in one that was constantly at max players because the leader recruited every sprouted cat boy and girl off the street but less than a fifth of the people online would ever talk. Then I've been in a smaller one where every single person online is chatting all the time about everything and everyone is much closer. I've seen FCs with their own discords, but they're dead and everyone has their own discord just for their friends in and out of the FC and other FCs where the discords are constantly popping off and I have to mute them to stay sane.

So there's no real consistency to it, but I'd definitely take a look at the Community Finder tool and ask those FC leaders in-game questions. An FC leader who doesn't like taking questions from a possible new member is a bad FC leader anyway. Check out their discords if you have the link while you're at it.

Honestly, aside from what Mikko had stated, I think linkshells (especially the smaller ones) tend to be more sociable than an FC. Maybe try what you can find in linkshells, too.

Maybe I will feel more inclined to use Discord once it comes to PS5 which should be early 2022, if still on schedule.

This is mostly how I feel as well. In all my years in this game, I have yet to find a FC that primarily chats in-game. It's a bit disheartening as you really do end up feeling like an outcast. I don't actually mind using VC, but the times I can get on are pretty rare and so the end result is effectively the same. :/

I ended up just making a solo-FC so that silence is 100% my own doing, but I'd still love to find a chatty LS/CWL to be able to BS and have fun with people in chat. Hopefully I can find something once the expansion launches. Having people to chat and play with makes any MMO far more enjoyable.
