    Regular disconnects 90007 error

For the last week or so, I have started experiencing regular disconnects. Every time it happens there is no warning. I experience no lag or anything, my screen just goes blank and gives me a 90007 disconnect error once in a while. It occurs in instances, in cutscenes, and in open world areas. After disconnecting, I cannot log back in immediately, as I get the "this character was not logged out properly" error. Once that clears, I have to wait in the queue to log back into the game.

Friends have also informed me that they regularly see the "pokeball" disconnecting/bad connection symbol briefly appearing next to my name during gameplay even while I experience no connectivity issues, lag, or latency problems.

I play on the same connection as my partner through the same router, both on wired connections. She has experienced zero disconnect issues at all. We regularly play together, and I have been disconnecting while she experiences no network disruptions. Consistently on the login screen, my connection is rated as "excellent" and idling on this screen for extended periods shows no disruptions in my "excellent" connection. I have experienced zero network issues in any other games or contexts, only FFXIV.

I followed the old directions for troubleshooting a 90007 error that I found on the forums here: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...NA-Data-Center and that did not help with this issue. I have also checked all my hardware/cables/etc, and as I said, I have experienced no network issues in any other contexts. I even tried playing with a VPN on to see if that mitigates the issue and having the VPN off or on does not impact these disconnects.

Since this issue only occurs in Final Fantasy, it seems to be FFXIV related, and I am unsure what next steps I should take to try to troubleshoot it.

Edited to add: I am currently attempting a clean re-install of the game to see if that helps with this problem.

Solution to regular 90006 and 90007 DC Error

I have found a solution that consistently works to solve this problem (on Windows). Posting it here to help anyone who is experiencing similar.

Before playing the game, open command prompt. You can do this by typing "cmd" in the search bar on your taskbar in Windows.

In the command prompt, type the following, then push enter:
    ipconfig /flushDNS
The command prompt will then say
    Windows IP Configuration
Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.
You can now close the command prompt and start Final Fantasy as normal.

If, after doing this, the problem persists, restart your computer, follow the above steps to flush your DNS cache when it boots back up, then run Final Fantasy before opening any other online applications (web browser, discord, etc). Once you are in queue to connect with a character, you can tab out and open up that other stuff that you want and use your computer normally.

I don't know if this will work for everyone, but this has worked very consistently for me. Flushing the DNS cache before starting the game has basically eliminated these disconnects, whereas I was getting them every hour or two before I started doing this. If I get DC-ed, a restart and a re-flush of the DNS cache prevents further DCs until my next play session very consistently.

Hopefully this helps someone else out there!
