I don't intend to make this post anything long winded, but I just need to vent about a personal, repeating error I keep making over and over.

I'm currently trying to get my Red Mage decked out in 270 gear to make finishing Heavensward and the early stages of Stormblood easier. However, I find myself continuously buying the same piece I already have again and again. As there is multiple prompts about buying it, it is only my fault when I pick up the wrong item. Just getting tired of spamming the same three raids repeatedly and then grabbing the wrong stuff off the vendor.

Ah well, just need four more items and I'll be done ... if my mushy, goldfish brain would stop buying the same things again.

If you want to be sure that you dont have it already just right click -> "Search for item" you will know if you already have something on you, in one of your inventory or even retainers.

My inventory organization is not exactly what you'd call good and the "search for item" feature has helped me a lot.

Most of those items are unique iirc. Are you buying the ring multiple times?

The only piece you can buy duplicates of is the ring, though, and the vendor tells you how many you are carrying. If you've stored pieces on retainers, I have to wonder why you would, if you mean to use them on your RDM? There's already a feature in place to prevent you from buying duplicates of things: the UNIQUE flag.

Well, next to the currency in the purchase interface it shows you how many of the item you have. I think it also shows up even if you have something equipped; but still to be doubly sure you can open your character window next to the purchase one and crosscheck.

If you have the item, it will usually say 1 under the quantity on the right instead of 0. You can check if you have it in retainers and the saddlebag by clicking "search for item" on the item's menu.

I don't know which 3 raids you are spamming but the most poetics come from Castrum Meridianum, Aetherochemical Research Facility, roulettes and S ranks. You can help someone through all 12 alexander raids for the first time for 1,200 poetics or queue for any old ARR trials such as Howling Eye (Hard) and if it's someone's first time you get a bonus.

Replying from my phone while at work so apologies for any grammar errors.

I will attempt to answer the few questions I saw posed. For the few comments telling me about the “search for” function and that game will inform me if I already have an item, thank you and I can only blame my still somewhat new player status for over looking what I gather is an obvious thing. For the one about raids, according to the duty finder, I only have access to World of Darkness, Labrynth of the Ancients and Sycrus Tower so I’ve running repeatedly for Tomestones. I’m still the patches between Heavensward and Stormblood so I don’t think I‘ve unlocked any other options.

The main issue with my having to buy items over and over again is that I get into a hurry and without thinking and I end up with the 240 version when I wanted the 270.

You have access to all of it. Castrum Meridianum is a 20-25 minute run for 200-300 poetics. If you have not done your daily Main Scenario roulette, that can get you as many as 500-600.

Aetherochemical Research Facility used to be one of the best places to get it but it's lower than Castrum Meridianum now.

there is a blue quest in ishgard for lvl 60 raids. dont know how its called in englush though. its close to the AST quest and the airships
