Baffling behavior

As a Healer I like to DPS when I can but if the tank requires my full attention then they get it.

Usually due to huge pulls to aoe down. So I have no problem doing a lot more healing in those scenarios.

If the tank is dying and the healer is DPSing then the Healer needs to reevaluate if healing is for them.

Im unsure if its the witching hour when I get on but I have had already a few groups in my lvl 69 dungeon where they are just irritable. As a tank, i am supposed to engage correct? stance is up, i use my AoE attack and then either continue attacking and or mitigate damage. sounds simple correct?

My team leaves out of range...full well seeing me stop. I die due to no heals. They explain that they believed i was pulling more. I said no problem. its okay. how do we get to the next batch and still die? we all stopped and I observe my healer doing DPS...on 3 peeps...

I suggested my healer should heal. as I'm typing the two DPS die. i say...my man...just hit the heal button. The DPS whom died ...defends the healer? the one who isn't doing his job? its like im in the twilight zone here. how are they getting mad at me for suggesting the healer do the one thing they need to do? "just play the game" they said. I respond "...we can't...we're dying...at the second mob..." They did a vote kick..which in itself was a favor to me. I can't stand that sort of ignorance. Needless to say I reported those cross server users. It's just baffling to me how people act this way.

Second point, I'm unsure how people believe its okay to focus DPS while the team needs heals. I don't mean like top them off from a scratch, I mean, were at 10% where are you on this? I believe many MANY people are mislead that DPS is a big priority to a healer when healing needs to be done. I'm told the creator is to blame but I don't buy it. Its one thing if one says "DO DPS, it saves 10 seconds" but its another when you're casting DMG spells and see people die. I main SCH and I've been in tough spots where I'm healing with no downtime.

I'm astounded that you read that whole thing and still did not grasp the context of the situation. I think you just skimmed it just to respond. I suggest that you reread it and understand what had happened.

Healer was either over-confident and it bit them in the rear, and they're doubling down, or just straight-up refusing to do the role they signed up for just for the sake of a fast queue and what they feel like is easy EXP.

Laughable comment. The healer loses tank on a single group pull. OP would have died anyway if he pulled multiple groups.

I hope stat squish would solve this stupid problem.

Send me these DPS-happy healers, I'll gladly take them off your hands. Because I'm so sick and tired of seeing white mages that refuse to use anything other than cure 1 and Medica 2 spam at level 80, scholars that hoard Aetherflow and ignore their fairy cooldowns while relying solely on Adloquium and Physick, and Astro's that either follow in white mage's footsteps by spamming diurnal Aspected Helios and Benefic 1, or Nocturnal Aspected Helios which just overwrites their own shields or doesn't even apply them because no damage has gone out. All while not even using the myriad of FREE abilities at their disposal or understanding the main mechanic of their job.

And because a sizeable amount of this community don't actually know how healers even work, they'll congratulate whoever just spammed their aoe heal the most and blows their entire wad of cooldowns on a minor scratch over the one that heals when the party needs it and picks up the slack when Captain Cure inevitably bites the dust to some mechanic or avoidable aoe. The only job that's more thankless than being a halfway decent healer is being a Rez Mage in an Alliance Raid.

And before anyone tries to accuse me of being some "tryhard sweaty elitist", I spend more time G-Posing in random areas than I do playing the game, and I tend to afk in Gridania on top of the light poles. I'm casual af.

Im unsure how to combat this "healing culture". People were taught incorrectly and been conformed to not caring. I main sch. I know what its like to heal and see people die in-between dmg spells. You start feeling out the group and value healing over dmg.

Ive seen a handful of people who "just cant fathom" this situation. Boggles my mind.
