"how dare you criticize our lord and savior yosheep"
I used to play the game until January of this year, actually, but I still browse the forum from time to time around news announcements time to gauge community reception, so I see the same kinds of discussions just like here, just the topics are different.
So saying that people here are being passive aggressive doesn't sound true at all when it's not unique to FFXIV. And that's even assuming we're defining the term the same way.
People can criticize and people can also defend.
They aren't saying you have to love it, but they love it themselves so they want to explain why they love it and then you can either agree with it or not. There are things to criticise, but not nearly as much as in other games and what is different is that the developers explain why something has to be this way or why it's hard to fix so that we understand.
However the same type of player that you're describing get very hostile and upset if you don't agree with them. They aren't saying you have to love it, but they love it themselves so they want to explain why they love it and then you can either agree with it or not. There are things to criticise, but not nearly as much as in other games and what is different is that the developers explain why something has to be this way or why it's hard to fix so that we understand.
This reads like you came from a game notorious for it's horrible community, heard that FFXIV has a better community (because objectively that makes no sense) and then came to it expecting it to be perfect and have no faults at all and now you want to fan some flames. There are definitely bad actors in this community, these forum provide plenty of evidence for that. Elitists, bigots, etc etc etc, no community is perfect.
No one, however, owes you "fights and arguments to resolve problems." What even is that? If you need to literally fight and argue with people get anything "solved" you're better off in single player games arguing with NPCs. In no way is someone dismissing you by being passive aggressive "just as detrimental" or worse than having a full blown tantrum on the internet.
No one is treating you badly for "wanting to talk, be social and make friends," while at the same time absolutely no one owes you conversation. Anyone can "refuse to speak" to anyone they want, not to mention you have no idea why people aren't engaging with you when they literally aren't speaking to you.
Is it really time already to have the "everyone is secretly evil in FFXIV and it feels like living in the hood" thread again? Time sure does fly, can't believe its been a month already.
A just throw something in, I just got a "Official Warning due to Violation" for Point 3.3 Profanity and Offensive Language. It states today was the day of the offence, but I played a bit in the morning where I did run 2 or 3 Dungeons NOT saying anything all 3 runs. Now I log in and i'm being told I broke some rules. The last time I used profanity was about 3 or 4 weeks ago in PVP where I used foul language because people were literally throwing an win and it was extremely frustrating to watch.
Not toxic ? Bull...This games is full of "snowflakes" and OH GOD IF YOU DARE SAY SOMETHING MEAN!
I'm literally stopping talking to ALL players in the game. Not gonna risk my account because I might hurt some ones feeling. But hey, knowing SE I will be reported for being too silent too and they ban me anyway.
I'm actually surprised at the amount of people who think it's justified to start cussing at strangers because they're frustrated. No one made you say anything except yourself.
Thank you for your feedback, but I refuse to converse with you any further of fear of loosing my account for disagreeing with you. Thank you and have a nice day.
Interesting state of mind. No skin off my back though.
