It indeed seems you are, at the very least unintentionally, attempting to gaslight by convincing both yourselves and others that "being polite is no longer enough," because there are "updates to the ToS," and when called out on that, continue to attempt to convince others that yes, there were changes made to the ToS in regards to player-to-player interactions (other than the ones made to address stalking and RMT advertisements in the PF).

    not from my experience, tbh

Additionally, Tanks and Healers have more tools in their disposal in Malikah's Hell (pun intended) so Aug.Scaevan are still 'okay', despite numbers never lie that higher iLv in this case means better survivability. If it's Gulg wall pulls then it's slightly different story.
even that is possible, though the healer has to sacrifice deeps for that and the tank has to have every cd available

That isn't what gaslighting is. Updating ToS, while creating specific examples of infractions =/= changes. For years, the ToS were incredibly unclear, which left many confused as to what was allowed.

This is an mmo in the age of entitlement. The easiest way to get by is to interact with others as little as possible since everyone is offended by everything and SE likes to cater to every little hurt feeling if the "victim" wines loud enough. Can't tell you how many times I've had people scream obscenities (like sexist, borderline racial, and ERP-esque advances) yet they never have anything done to them since they still do it so openly and freely. Yet I get a strike because someone didn't like my corny joke of an LB macro.

When I first started, I was a lot more open in my interactions. Now a days I'm only out in the open world to do the few things I need to then I hide at my personal house. I avoid talking in DFs as much as possible because the GM team treats you as "guilty" even if it's a bogus report filed. I've had to snap at a GM and appeal my case before. If you're deemed "guilty" which you are the second the report is filed, then you can't do anything about it and it's forever attributed to your account.

They intentionally under inform you of whatever offence and use their non-existent excuse of a "privacy policy" to refuse to tell you pretty much anything. This approach makes the GM team essentially look at you like a walking money pile. We're not people. We're just money.

It's hardly even an mmo anymore.

Yep. It's more like an rpg with a minute social aspect to it. The mishandling of many things by the GM team really sucked out a lot of the "fun" in the social interaction. It's more of a social prison if you're brave enough to speak out.

This thread is an example of the state of the community in the wake of the ToS clarification. Toxic discussions are pushed out of the game and into off-game platforms, such as the forums and other sites and applications like Discord. You would be surprised at the toxicity of some FCs and FFXIV communities that don't occur in-game. The ToS only pushes communication out of the game and into spaces that are largely unmoderated. Once you peel off the friendly veneer that Square Enix likes to promote, you reveal a lot of mean-spiritedness that exists among the FFXIV player base. Is it because co-op games naturally make people angry at their teammates, or that social games naturally breed social friction? Or is this because Square Enix moved discussion to the Wild West of internet platforms where no one moderates anyway, leading people to become vicious behind anonymity? And is there anything we can do to fix it?

When big daddy SE isn't towering over you, the "great community" tends to lose it's luster.
