Welcome to the real world, where literally no one gives a damn about your feelings, until they do.
And you should be wary as to why they suddenly started, but pleasantly surprised when it's genuine.
I don't think anyone is saying a person should not be punished for breaking the ToS. The issue is the ToS is so overtly heavy handed, that it actively discourages people from socializing in an organic matter.Ya think?
The whole premise that it is different cause you being a jerk today should go unpunished but if you're a jerk on EA day you should get punished.
You should get punished every time you found breaking the TOS. Period.
My point was and still is that if you are breaking the TOS, you will take the consequences for your actions.
If you're so emotional and get heated you must spur toxic in public chat (since that's what was being discussed with this person iirc) you should probably either not type in chat or log off.
Was in Malikah's Well, and the tank had level 70 gear equipped. I Imagine they had been leveling in Bozja and forgot that their gear was outdated. I've honestly done it too. It's no big deal. Yet when pointing it out, they lash out, cry "elitist" and threaten to report.
I doubt they even did, but the fact that it's feasible to do so and something coming of it, is kind of silly.
That is why we have GMs to look at chat logs. Don't respond and kick him if he's being confrontational. Telling someone their gear isn't good enough for the content you are doing is okay, it's how you say it that is important. If they lash out because you told them politely you have nothing to worry about. I really am looking at your objection to the rules as hey I want to be able to tell this person they are a moron. It's hard to see the problem people have with this because the answer is simple just be polite and if that doesn't work kick the offender or leave.I don't think anyone is saying a person should not be punished for breaking the ToS. Enjoy Life you only get one.
The updated ToS say otherwise. Being polite isn't sufficient. That is why we have GMs to look at chat logs. Don't respond and kick him if he's being confrontational. I take it you didn't read the second post they made, specifically saying that they did not make changes to the ToS in regards to what type of conversation was allowed and what isn't, and merely updated it to provide EXAMPLES?
The sky isn't falling, chicken little. You're not gonna get sent to the Gaol just for saying "Hey tank please upgrade your gear after this dungeon".

Has to be in the form of a suggestion. Can't ask someone to do something.
