Why yes, I am openly hostile and aggressive to people I dislike, why do you ask?
Passive aggressive people are weaklings :Y

Idk man, if the outright aggressive dude irl reacts that way, say with violence to a snarky comment. Your ass goes to jail and he laughs as you do. Weakling or not becomes kind of irrelevant irl or in game, you are the loser stuck with the punishment. So in that sense they are the powerful one and you are not.
Passive aggression also infuriates me, but acting like outright aggression is better is not right either. Learn to express yourself in healthy ways. Succumbing to rage and letting it overtake you hardly seems "strong" to me. At least there is some tact in passive aggression. Ik you memeing but yeah.. The argument is silly.

Actually, it isn't a lie at all.
I'm sorry people are not allowed to be a jerk in this community and this game. Then again, nah...I'm not sorry about that at all.

Yeah? I mean, you can't take everything at face value, even if the community is mostly positive and all that jazz, there will always be bad apples, everywhere... Except maybe monk monasteries but I don't have any empirical data on that lol
Respect those that respect you and ignore those not worthy of your attention.
In my experience, passive aggressive behaviour is far more damaging than outright aggression. The latter is much easier to prove as an issue if it persists, whereas the former generally results in emotional manipulation, gaslighting, moving goalposts, goading and the weaponisation of the terms of service.
I rather have what we have now than something like League of Legemds level of toxicity. People talking behind other's back and stuff do happen alot in ff14, but that's also true in games that have any sort of social aspect. I used to play mmorpg without much policing (not WoW) and it was so much worse. My parents were disapearing on daily basis and people were being toxic to each other behind other's back anyway.
I do agree that FFXIV playerbase can be toxic in its own way, but I say it really is not the worst. I rather have someone talk behind my back and kick me off the fc (personal experience) than have someone harass me, with their whole guild, the whole week because of some dumb argument we had.
The passive and active toxicity at the end of the day has been and continues to be rampant here. From collaborations to the lack of races without an XX or an XY chromosome. The amount of entitlement and gate keeping here in itself is aggressive and passive toxic behavior. It's also funny to watch people compare the WoW crowd to the XIV crowd.
At least with the WoW crowd you know the kind of toxicity you get. With the XIV crowd "Which flavor of entitled nonsense is it gonna be this week?"
Like some kind of sh**ty Baskin Robbins. You never know the flavor of the week. You just know it'll be full of nuts.
Edit: I'm actually pretty fortunate. I've rarely run into these kinds myself and my FC mates have been helpful when they're able to in all aspects. So I think I've gotten kinda lucky in that regard.

You need to keep in mind that in the last 6 months the community has changed a lot. I've been around since day 1 of ARR and imo the community has been changing for the worse since Stormblood, but until recently it was still way friendlier than most other communities from other games.
After the recent influx of new players the community has changed again, this time in my opinion overwhelmingly for the worse. There's a ton more toxic players, a ton more of would be elitists, a ton more vulgar people.
Why do you think they had to update the ToS? It was clearly in reaction to the changes in the community.
That sums up my experience. The community was never perfect, but the frequency of negative experiences I've had has been steadily increasing since June, especially on Crystal which had the most preferred worlds/new player destination. A lot of it in my experience has come from overly defensive players lashing out (e.g. a healer struggling to keep a tank alive, instead of asking for help, insulted the tank then rage quit). The negative effect is I got so sick of bad players being snippy, it's made me more grumpy (and maybe elitist seeming) to the point I had to stop playing with PUGs.You need to keep in mind that in the last 6 months the community has changed a lot. It's in part to the tumblr/twitter effect. This game has one of the most chill, fun and friendly hardcore communities both in PvE and PvP in any MMORPGs I've played in the past 20 years, but a very toxic casual community that immediately jumps down your throat when you have the audacity to try to explain a mechanic they screwed up and wiped the party for the 5th time.
