In General most people I encountered are fairly chill helpful just want to play and have fun with friends and strangers alike.

Have had a few bad encounters that did make me nervous. Also a tank who fell out on me for not dps-ing good enough. I did my best but sometimes best as a group means adapting not always easy. Also had to learn things, we all have to learn stuff. Also got to admit am not always best at dodging some things idk if it is a ping thing or scatterbrain me not having seen it … or both? (Are they things?)

I remember a HW fight where I was a pretty floormat most of the time and the party making fun of me don’t remember where I went wrong but it did leave me a little traumatised for random encounters.

Also had some encounter… where some one accused me of weird stuff. Won’t even get into the details but that was because of some toxic stuff some couple went through and they liked making up weird untrue things about others to cause drama when they felt bored. That’s all you need to know. Luckily my friends knew me well enough that I wouldn’t act out like what they accused me of.

Still also good encounters were some help out pretty solid. Happy about that one. Am most comfy with friends who are cool with guiding me as it makes me feel a little more relaxed (am an anxious one) they are the best.

The best people in this game (met, or not met yet)are truly amazing and it is all of them I play for.

The difference is that the ground rules, what is accepted as ok is very different from say WoW. The google it idiot standard is much much less accepted in FFXIV even with the influx of that crowd.

This game has me missing the DCUO community. Villain side Trade Chat was a wild good time. People I'm used to being around saying all types of funny shit. Funny bantering and arguing and stupidity all around.

This community is like another world. People here are weird, a bit high-strung, and very, very snobbish. And they constantly jump. I keep to myself and hide the chat window off as often as I can-- I simply cannot associate with such individuals. But the times I do have the chat unhidden, there's nothing too overly toxic going on, especially in Raids. The slightly toxic chats that I have seen though are in the Party Finders.

The toxicity is there. You just have to:
A) Look for it. And/Or B) Be in the ___ place at the ___ time.

I will be honest this community is extremely toxic and anyone that disagrees with that is being disingenuous. People report each other for the most petty things, specially in these forums. A lot players take criticism about this game as a personal attack against them. It can be off putting at times and can ruin the enjoyment of the game when you are worried about talking to anyone in game as they may report you. It sucks for a lot of new players, I think youtubers and streamers make this games community sound way better than it really is.

And before you or anybody sits there and calls me Disingenuous, let me tell you that Im not a Streamer or a Paid Actor, and that Ive been playing this game for 5-6 Years; coming in Mid Heavensward, and the only times I have ever had ANY back interactions in this game, is in Current High-End Raiding (Alexander at the Time) the Very Rare Jerkwad that you will run into during a duty, and some of the Trolls or just generally bad people on these Forums.
If I were to combine Every Bad Egg Ive run into, it is still a Drop in the Bucket compared to the Thousands of Nice and Helpful People Ive run into, and have had Outrageously Hilarious Interactions with.
There are Patient people who will help you and guide you through content and even Farms. There are people who arn't as Patient and will say you are wasting their time and will spite Venom and Curse your name. Guess what...both these things happen in Real Life to!
And unless your literally in a Safespace your whole life, there is not a SINGLE person that will Honestly tell you that FFXIV is Perfect; from its game or its Community.
For every good there is Bad.
And That, Is, Normal.

The reality is that we all will have different experiences for various reasons. You can't call it a lie just because you had a different Experience; which can be the result of many different things that You experienced.
My Experience my Whole FFXIV Career has been 95% Positive, while barley 5% has been terrible.
I think this game has an INCREDIBLE community. And I love that many streamers & youtubers especially coming from WoW get to Experience the Fun this game has to offer and what it allows to Create that Fun.

Its hard to get in trouble or get into fights...if you arn't looking for it.
But hey, such is life you'll run into a jerk. Move on, there are great People out there.

^^ This is how I feel. There are millions of subscribers to this game I would be surprised if a person never had a problem at one time or other with another person. On the other hand, 95% of my time since seriously starting has been positive and the rest of the negative has been mostly on this forum. Someone reported me for typing two letters that can be taken for a abbreviation for a swear but I was actually replying to someone whose name was those two letters. I got a two week suspension because I used someone's characters first name. The game is fine these forums have become foul.
