Everyone recommending RDM is right in a sense, but keep in mind RDM is a caster. Of the roles, casters tend to have a wider skill gap because every caster (arguably except Summoner, but even Summoners need to know how to play this minigame) needs to play a minigame of positioning that stands apart from their actual rotation. It's very easy for beginner casters to drop casts without thinking about it to avoid mechanics, just like it's easy to get cocky and think you can finish a cast and move out of a cast in time. All casters, healers included, would do well to learn and master "slidecasting," which is a technique of moving when the cast bar is nearly full because of how the server and client communicate on spell cast success.

Black Mage's rotation boils down to a few keystrokes, but the complexity comes from understanding where one can plant down and cast away. Red Mages are bound by a similar game; contrary to popular belief, Red Mages are bound to find a place to turret, and though it's to a lesser extent than a Black Mage will need to that is then made up by Red Mage needing to make time and plan their positioning with melee attacks in mind. It's important to remember that dualcast only happens after a successful cast, so a Red Mage needs to be cognizant of mechanics like Pantokrator, Stormy Horizons, Ifrit's Eruptions in UWU, and Liquid Hells in UCoB in the event they're ever targeted by them.

With the coming of Endwalker, Red Mage will be in melee a little bit more than normal; not twice as often, mana gen to mana spending were both reduced proportionately to each other, but Red Mage will have more overhead to decide when and how to use its melee combo.

This isn't to deter OP from choosing RDM; in fact, this minigame of positioning is my favorite in the game and all three casters are distinct precisely because of how they approach the questions "Where do I stand?" and "for how long do I stand there?" It is worth keeping in mind when deciding on playing any caster though.

True, but this "minigame" affects absolutely every job in the game. Tanks have to know where to stand, healers need to know where to stand, so do the dps jobs. It's all in regards to boss attacks, your attacks, the position of of other players, and the mechanics of the fight. In my opinion ranged classes apart from BLM have it the easiest due to having a clear view of the battlefield and the most space available to them, not having to stick to the boss to keep attacking.

All of them are simple except summoner, which is being reworked soon and is more just punishing than anything.

Now if you want 'so simple the class basically plays itself', I'd go dancer. I definitely play dancer when I want to turn my brain off.
