Chat Bubbles & In game Voip

Hey, i aware of how SE see addons but i feel like the option to have chat bubbles ingame would be so good. Let's make this happen ppl.

Also, when i played WoW, they have a nice in game voip for PF that helps a lot when ppl dont want to keep joining different discord channels once and a while. I get that in some situations it may be enforced to join the voip to join the group so this could not be a very good idea but i mean, that could be a good addition if nothing like this happen.

Chat bubbles are nice in theory (especially for role playing) but can you imagine the extra resources that would consume in a populated place?

Overall it’s a tiny amount of people that want chat bubbles and they have been asking since ARR - it’s just not going to happen.

In game voice again not going to happen - no need to reinvent the wheel as there are plenty of existing options for PC/Mac and PlayStation.

usually the chat bubble is a client side thing, so i doubt many resource would be needed as for the populated places, setting them to work only between party members or FC members by default it's an easy fix for that.

As the voip i agree, there's a lot of apps already there, i only bring it on because it was indeed a good feature that was used quite often.

Putting voip in the game is a waste of development time when everyone just uses discord. Playstation is going to allow discord soon as well. Putting voip in the game made sense before discord because setting up a server was not simple, but on discord you just press 2 buttons.

Most of it is people not wanting to look at the chat box they've left in the corner of their display. There's a surprising number of people that appear to have tunnel vision issues where they only see the center area of their screen and nothing else so if the chat doesn't pop up right there they don't see it. I'd call it more of a personal awareness issue that may also explain why so many people faceplant endlessly on so many of the fates and CE's in bozja/zadnor/DR.

I have always loved the idea of a chat bubble I think it would be very convenient. It worked for games like Gaia online, IMVU and Habbo Hotel and it worked marvellously.

I’m not sure why people are acting like a crowded area would have a negative affect… barely anyone in the game talks using ‘say’ as it is.

Everyone usually just whispers or talks in a party chat - so why can’t people like me who talk in ‘say’ have a chat bubble?

Idk, I, for one, always felt not having chat bubbles was ...weird? like, you have the character in front of you, but their "voice" [the dialogue] appears elsewhere, not to mention it may disappear as soon as someone else, even an npc, starts talking. It'd definitely be a nightmare for crowded places like Limsa or during hunts, but literally anywhere else, it wouldn't really be as bad as people make it out to be, specially when option is the key word in the whole argument.

Chat bubbles can be client sided so it's a perfectly reasonable request and it wouldn't even surprise me if SE added it as part of their cosmetic qol update schedules without anyone requesting it in high demand


On the other hand, Discord has killed any enthusiasm to implement voip. The former does everything better and if it doesn't, it will be most certainly on the way to do it.
