Yeah... it kind of just gives off the illusion of an active game. Genuinely curious to see if cities would look remotely similar if people were unable to bypass the logout.100% disagree. If I went to my local shopping district and dozens of people were just standing around staring blankly and not moving, I wouldn't think "wow what a lively environment!" I'd think there's something wrong with them, and maybe seek out help. People standing AFK doesn't add to the world other than to just make it harder for others to get on to actually play the game.
Additionally.... one has to wonder about your own health if you go away to use the restroom, and hear the login screen pop on before you complete your business as it's a 30 minute timer before it boots you out. Or your need to stay logged in when you go to sleep.
That aside, yes, this is punishable if they can prove it, though someone has to also notify the GMs of the potential problem.
