    Bored out of my mind while waiting for Elden Ring network test second session

    What if FFXIV takes place in our world (it looks a lot like) and Amaurot is (was?) our future at its peak of technology and intellectual prowess?

    This is just me overthinking the common FF trope of "ancient civilization" which is (was?) always more advanced than current one and turning it inside out because as title says I'm bored.

    EDIT: also playing for the first time recently (like this year) 2 certain games (of the same franchise) that I will not reveal for major spoilers being revealed at the end that it all takes place in our real world got me kinda thinking that is can happen now in EVERY fantasy themed game, including any FF game.
