I agree that Shadow of Death/Whorl of Death suck as buffs that need to stay on the enemy, but they're actually not that bad since they only take 1 button to reapply and don't break combo, so the only time you'd not want to use them is when you're using your gallows/gibbet combos, plus I kind of find it unique how you get an overflow of gauge when you AoE down enemies which just makes you do more damage as things die, but personally aside from the 10 gauge when a marked enemy dies the buff itself is kind of boring since it's just a flat 10% buff.Well had a chance to really sit down and play Reaper at last and I have to say I *mostly* like it.
Only two issues I have are Death's Design and positionals. I hate maintenance buffs where we have to stop the flow of gameplay to reapply it, there was a reason why they got rid of Heavy Thrust on Dragoon after all. Maintenance buffs are bad design, the only job that does them well is Samurai because it's baked in to their base rotation and as long as you're doing rotation correctly your buffs will always be up. Come on devs, you really didn't learn your lesson with Heavy Thrust years ago? As for positionals, I've always been an outspoken critic and proponent of getting rid of them entirely. I was so sure this expansion would be the devs finally learning their lesson and getting rid of them completely. They dialed it back on mnk but unfortunately didn't go as far as they should have for all the jobs.
Besides that, I give reaper a solid 9/10. Ditch the positionals and the maintenance buff (either by having the melee combo refresh it better yet ditching it entirely) and it'll be the perfect melee job as far as I'm concerned. The flow, the animations, the rotation, it's all great. I love it. Just needs those two fixes and it will be even better.
Heck maybe they can just change gallows/gibbet/guillotine so that it extends the duration of the buff, that way it only ever needs to be applied once the first time and then you don't need to worry about reapplying it outside of when the boss jumps away for a long time
As for positionals, I honestly think they're fine, there's only 2 and if you miss a positional it's not a big deal since you only lose 60 potency and you can have up to 2 stacks of true north available at any time

I recently demonstrated lv 90 RPR to a friend who had been turned off from the class due to the positionals. I explained how there were only 2, and how with True North, which you get a stack of 2 to use for a total of 20 seconds, you can totally negate the positional requirement. That and the fact that it wouldn't even be a dps loss worth mentioning for casual players if they just totally ignored the positionals make RPR far less like MNK than she had imagined.
why would you ever have your camera on your face in the middle of a fight?
For real. If you have a problem with your own face + red eyes, it's not the class' fault xD
I don't which is why I'm still leveling the job and haven't ditched it lol. Just noticed it when I was looking while hitting the dummy in Wolf's Den.
Would still look far cooler with a Vivi-esque face though imo.

Every melee has two positionals now...
Except for DRG I guess who has *gasp* three.
TO be honest, this is a sweet skills for reaper, but there is to much button to set in our skillbars xD it is hard to use without losing another one set on bind near the hand. xDI recently demonstrated lv 90 RPR to a friend who had been turned off from the class due to the positionals.
