Sharlayan origins and the Endwalker Trailer

On the Endwalker full trailer, why do we hear the Shadowbringers motif exactly when Y'Shtola is entering the Studium, the governing body of Sharlayan? SPECIFICALLY the part that talks about the relation between WoL and Emet-Selch (one brings shadow, one brings the light, two-toned echoes tumbling through time...)

Dunno if I'm reading too much into this but... what if this was a subtle hint of something? Of Sharlayan also having Ascian hands in their origins, perhaps...? It wouldn't be too far-off, seeing them as secret-keepers like they are. What do you guys think?

Many have had the idea that Sharlyean and the Ancients ever since we saw nautilus spirals in Amurot were connected. If not a bit longer due to how they evacuated their colony in the Dravain Hintetlands when Garlemald started their invasions. Now with how they've responded to our asking of aid in defense pertaining to the end of days this idea has increased. There have been ideas that an Ancient either belonging to Venat's group or one that got raised by one of the unsundered or even Sharlyean being where a very didn't actually die Lahabreha escaped to. In other word no, you're not over thinking and only 6.0 will tell if we've all been over thinking this or not.

My baseless theory which I'll believe until it's proven wrong is that Sharlayan is kinda like Venat's garlemald, a nation she secretly founded for her own purposes.

I also believe this, but I question how the Nyunkrepf backstory ties into that. Sharlayan should only be about 1570 years old give or take, not 12,000.

It could easily just be that the Nyunkrepf stuff was a lie but like, we've seen his giant ship in the Peaks and wouldn't historians have come across records of Sharlayan in the writings of Allag, Bozja, or pre-flood nations?

Whatever the case I know there's an answer, we just need to wait and see what it is.

The original history of Nyunkrepf's voyage is weird at best. He created this magical superark back where Sharlayan now is, traveled to Eorzea during the Calamity, was teleported to the Peaks in Gyr Abandia, then traveled all the way back to the island to "found" Sharlayan. It really looks like it already existed and merely withstood the floods. Perhaps in a giant underground bunker.

My assumption is just that the founder was the form Venat chose to take during that era, possibly with the explicit goal of simply trying to save as many as she could. Then she'd go on to form Sharlayan in order to do.. something.

Historically, the nation of Sharlayan was founded by a Roegadyn named Nyunkrepf Nyunkrepfsyn—one of the Twelve Archons who tried to stop the Sixth Umbral Calamity.

That said, the fact that Sharlayan's architecture, general aesthetics, and even their treatment of the outside world all seem to be aping Amaurot suggests to me that some or all of the official history is a fabrication. I think one thing we might discover is that Sharlayan predates Nyunkrepf's alleged founding by hundreds, if not thousands, of years. And having said that, I realize such a revelation would require justifying their lack of presence in previous eras—for example, where was Sharlayan when Allag ruled the world?

Alternatively, Nyunkrepf's founding of Sharlayan could simply have been heavily inspired by Amaurot, somehow.

Or Nyunkrepf's Sharlayan was very different from the Sharlayan of the current era(s), and they reshaped it around whatever Amaurotine influence they were exposed to.

I like this better because from what we know of Nyunkrepf's beliefs he did eschew war but the outright isolationism of Sharlayan runs counter to the man that built an actual ark to rescue people from the Flood. At some point it seems like his dislike for conflict got corrupted by the remaining Sharlayans (with perhaps some Ascian influence, maybe Venat, maybe the Convocation) into outright indolence.

In the AST job quests, Leveva suggested the isolationism policy only really started about 200 years prior with the rise of the Bibliotheca faction.
