Some benchmarks and performance scaling analysis

I've made a series of CPU/GPU/iGPU benchmarks and how the game performance scales with each component upgrade and so on. You can check the whole thing on:

If you have a weak CPU you can improve the performance with DXVK.

    Download DXVK: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases

Unzip it with 7-Zip or something.

    Switch into the x64 directory.

Copy the "dxgi.dll" and the "d3d11.dll" into the FF14 game directory. Not the boot directory.

    Start the game.

Now the game uses a DirectX 11 to Vulkan warapper and it should run noticably faster. If you get some glitches or the game does not start the delete these dll files.

    Cheers

Can test this, but going from DX11 MT to DX12/Vulkan would improve things only if there would be a lot of draw calls of which the "main" core had problems scheduling efficiently. DX11 MT still have some overhead on the main core but to avoid this you pretty much need a different engine implementation - will have to test this but cities would likely still be hammered by single core handling all of the world state (lots of people) while some open zones, especially those more complex in structures could see an improvement.

I get godlike stuttering and freezes with DXVK here. Shame since it works great with GW2.

    I don't know why.

It works very well for me. I have a Radeon 5700 XT. Maybe it is important which GPU you have.

    Cheers

Same results with 1070ti and 3080.
Tried both Win 10 and 11.

I just got 3080 Ti. Windows 11 definitely got performance hit compare to RTX 3080 with Win 10. Win 10 with RTX 3080 got 25700, Win 11 with RTX 3080 Ti got 25500. Both with fresh install of Windows. Windows 11 also got all the updates for Ryzen.

There is a benchmark tool for it.

I've tested DXVK and for RTX 3070 it stutters like crazy, for few other systems it doesn't really improve things... as FF14 can already use multiple cores it will be super setup specific (CPU + GPU):

    Article: https://rk.edu.pl/en/using-dxvk-on-w...v-performance/

Somewhat beneficial for devs would be option to use Radeon GPU Profiler with this
