Actually, a cyclops is a mythical (I think Grecian?) creature in which the film based this on... and I know this one was around first, hence the look of disgust on how far XIV have taken it...

There is no one "official" cyclops look, as yes, it is indeed a myth. It was believed that bones found of wooly mammoths were mistaken for super beings, and the "cyclops" comes from the hollow circle on the skull of the mammoth where the trunk began.

At least that's what I remember from my Art History class 2 yrs ago >.>

Square takes a metric chunk from Greco-Roman mythology. Some times so severely out of context that they don't really make much sense.
