The Paladin questline is truly something. It deserves an award-it takes the cake for being probably the most boring job questline in the game.
It's a product of unfortunate circumstances. With 1.0 lacking any distinct "kingdoms" and other core fantasy elements, there was no real place to put in a Paladin type class except...Ul'dah. For some reason. Since Ishgard was inaccessible and all. When I decided I wanted to try the class, I didn't think twice about boosting it since I knew I wouldn't be missing much in terms of story and I could learn its rotation on a training dummy.
Ishgard being not accessible is hardly an excuse for ARR class quests, considering Dragoon quest in 30-50 does it just fine without accessing the city.
