    So about paladin questline

    Does SE ever rewrite questline aside from the 1.0->2.0?

    I love paladin or knight as a job, but the questline is like a shadow I cannot get rid of and whenever I take up the shield, it reminds me those shallow plots and lines, the class feels oddly embarrassing to play.

    Paladin story sucks although it gets better in Stormblood and the level 80 quest is ok. But 30-60 is among the worst storyline in the game

    From what I understand the PLD questline was more or less the same lore wise from 1.0-ARR - the first one certainly was, although you had to do a different battle in a different area (the 1.0 quest battle was instanced against two skeleton mobs that were remarkably strong). Jenlyns even said the "Bahamut's fang!" exclamation in 1.0 (thus hinting at what was to come in the Calamity), but as I never did the PLD Job quests in 1.0 past the first one I'm not sure if the others were the same, but I assume they were.

    Officially the only Job quests that were changed from 1.0 to ARR was for WHM, due to a bit of lore established back then no longer being consistant with the game in ARR (specifically, the AF robe in 1.0 was literally unique, it was an elemental that changed itself into the robe for you - needless to say with so many people getting around in AF now that could no longer be handwaved away and so SE changed it to be a robe of Amdaporian design worn by a long deceased padjal). So I'm pretty confident the PLD quests were more or less the same from 1.0 to ARR.

    The best part about the Paladin storyline is when we are Gladiators lol. Anyways, I agree, the PLD questline is really weak, I saw a post some time ago saying that the questline was inspired by classical "knightly" literature, where every knight wanted to be the best fighter, the most famous, etc of the realm, though it's obvious if they had gone with a more DnD fantasy for PLDs it would have been much better.

    Looking forward for Endwalker though, despite not having job quests, it's fitting that they chose the PLD job to kill voidsents, maybe they will expand on it a little bit, don't know.

    Because those aren't PLD quests, they're a sequel/closure to GLA. The 30-50 quests are rather ok, though they don't have any real closure, but the 50-60 is objectively the worst of all jobs, even worse than WHM.

    It wouldn't surprise me that part of the reason the devs stopped doing job quests altogether was because while some jobs like DRK or SCH had clear overarching stories going on for them, some jobs, like PLD, were basically just "....now what?", so their focus is better spent elsewhere /shrug

    Gladiator and Paladin story 1-50 is fine, but the story for 50-60 felt like they ran out of ideas. The story for 60-70 there did not seem to be much of a story like for other jobs, but it was kept simple and I enjoyed it.

    Paladin questline is why I'm glad they went to role quests instead. With so many questlines needing to be kept up, it's inevitable some turned out to be stinkers.

    The druid/whm questlines are bad all the time from 1 - 70. So be glad that there is a light in the end when playing a paladin.

    Eh, outside of a few bad ones, most of class/job stories are enjoyable. I rather not chopping the whole apple trees just cuz there are a few wormed ones.
