Same fate happened to JP popular streamer

So last night I saw Pekora (popular vtuber in JP) just started playing FFXIV and I'm surprised she got same treatment like Asmongold day 1. People covered her character, spamming dm till she figured how to /busy, and killed her tagged mobs. I guess everyone has same attitude toward popular streamer huh...?

vtubers are hated by a certain group of people, who've already bullied one of the then biggest ones into retiring, wouldn't surprise me if they were behind that as well

I'd like to hope they aren't so tolerant as to just ignore blatant harassment and are taking names to report people after they're done streaming.

Streamer Privilege/Curse. Look at even mid-popularity streamers and they get plenty of tailgaters. Depending on their audience however it'll either be passive followers or disruptive in which case it'd be on them or viewers to report people doing actual harassment. Pekora is a seasoned veteran though so I doubt it really bothered her all that much but I haven't seen any translations yet so I could be way off base.

That happens to big name streamers in every game ever. It has nothing to do with intentional harassment (although it certainly is disruptive behavior). It's the same way celebrities get mobbed in the street.

I watched this happen.. I was a little disappointed the JP servers didn't have better behavior. Every time she stopped the screen just became filled with peoples mounts.

I hope she got to play later without that noise to actually enjoy the game.

Looks like a few other Holomem are queueing up to play though.. I am .. cringing in anticipation of the experience.

Stream audiences are full of younger people generally, so they don't have physically fully developed brains(the brain isn't fully physically developed until around age 25). It adds to the mixture of bad behavior.

Pekora is a multi millionaire. I am sure they will get over it somehow. If they want to avoid that type of interaction they can play the game off stream.

This really is less about how the streamer is going to deal with their job being kinda annoying one day (and really yes.. she likely makes far more than enough to shrug off a bad day) and wayy more about how bad this looks for the FFXIV community.

I have absolute confidence the GM team can give bonks out to those that earn them. Just like Asmon's problems were solved within a few days, I'm sure the Hololive streamers will have easy sailing soon.
