Is it just me or is Monk sound effect really underwhelming?

I recently leveled Monk to 80 and absolutely loved the class. I like the effects, skill motions , glamours, etc... But the sound effect for this class sounds ridiculously underwhelming. I feel like I'm punching with wet noodles. I think it's an issue if Monk skills have less 'punch' than a white mage's cure 1.

Either Monk sound effect is just this bad or I somehow changed the sound options for Monk.

Hm...I've always thought they were fine. The only ones I think sound notably weak are True Strike and Rockbreaker. Suppose Bootshine could sound a bit heavier for the heaviest hitter, but not bad. Forbidden Chakra and Six Sided Star sound godlike.

I think it's just you.... to me monk sounds seem just fine.

Also be careful when complaining about job sound effects.... RIP Gunbreaker #neverforget

I swear people are never pleased unless you set off a hydrogen bomb, completely disregarding the gameplay, ya know the whole point of the job

The sound effects never really occured to me as bad.

The animations however feel very outdated.
I don't really feel like I am a '' Master Monk '' at this point it sorta still feels like I am the same as when I started.

The only animation I think has an issue at the moment is Bootshine. That's only because Leaden Bootshine gave the skill an enormous amount of potency, which really isn't reflected in its fairly basic animation. By all rights it should have gotten the Raiden Thrust treatment when Leaden Bootshine was added to replace the lost Blunt Debuff.

Otherwise I actually like True Strike and Snap Punch for being actual martial arts moves. True Strike is a straight punch thrown in Horse Stance and Snap Punch is exactly what it's named, a snap punch.

I just think that they don't fit where we're at at this point.
It feels like everyone else is doing these really powerful and flashy moves but I don't feel like we have the same sense of growth.
It's not that they don't look and feel like Martial Arts moves it's that they don't feel like they reflect what are character is at this point and how strong and skilled we're meant to be.

I also don't think that they fit the overall theme of speed either, their animations are actually quite slow.
The animations should reflect MNK's speed imo.
And I think there is an issue when other melees look more athletic in their animations than we do.

Edit: They also don't feel very smooth to me.
Funnily enough I'd actually say that Bootshine feels smoother than True Strike and Snap Punch.

Animations like Tifa in FF7R is what I'd like to see and think would fit more.

They've been solving this on DRG in recent expansions, it's basically just Vorpal Thrust left now that feel old.

I agree to be honest. It feels like jobs such as Machinist of all things have a more "athletic" rotation. Considering how much movement Monks need to perform it'd be better if their base combo animations flowed a bit better with that in mind too. Things like True and Snap look a bit weird when you're frantically running around. Shadow of the Destroyer is a fantastic upgrade from Arm in that regard, but it's only part of the AOE rotation.

On this note, when they removed GL and made us sit in Fists of Fire again it was kinda baffling in a sense because we lost our increase in movement speed.
While NIN has one as a passive lol.

It makes sense NIN has it too, but on a practical level it'd make more sense for MNK.
On NIN it only rly makes sense on a thematic level while on MNK it makes sense on both.
Not that it's necessary or anything, but I kinda just felt like '' really...? '' when we lost it.

MNK's visual style has always been all over the place. I wouldn't have a problem with how bland and tasteless Bootshine looked were it not for it being our biggest damage contributor.

I would def be more lenient on it if it had the Raiden Thrust treatment. New fans would surely flock to MNK if Leaden Bootshine was a straight up ora rush and not a flat one-two-three punch.
