I have to admit, I'm not the best at commending DPS since I'm usually occupied enough just focusing on my own role, and the better they are at doing their job and dodging AoEs the less noticeable they are. More often than not, it's less about how good the DPS player was and more about whether the Tank or Healer screwed up, was inattentive, or otherwise did something to tick me off. I might skew towards commending a newbie who seems to be trying hard to learn. Or just to someone who is friendly and helpful in the group chat, or otherwise trying to make the run a fun one. Heck, you can totally screw up wipe the group, but I don't hold that against you are humble about it. I would vastly prefer an imperfect run with some laughs along the way, over a well-oiled machine where no one talks and I might as well be playing with AI bots. Oh, I almost forgot: pull the end boss while a first-timer is in a cutscene and you are immediately disqualified. Sorry, not sorry.

I'm by no means a top-tier DPS, and of course I get way more comms when I play Healer -- the unfair bias is real. But by no means is getting comms when I play DPS infrequent either. I've seen people here complain about how hard it is to get comms as DPS, but they've been playing for years, and I literally play two different characters who I made just this year and my 99.9% DPS-only alt character has vastly more comms than them. I promise I'm not trying to brag, and I'm not saying I'm a better player than them. In fact, I'm betting I'm not. But folks, come on, just say hi to your dungeon group, be fun to play with, crack a joke or two, be nice to the newbies, or something! It's not a guaranteed method, but you'd be surprised how far you can roll if you just grease the wheels a little bit.
