I usually give comms to dps if I'm a dps myself, which is rare, or if tank/healer ain't using their stuff. And it mostly depends if I'm playing DRG or not.
You run away with my eye buff? Nope! Otherwise, take my comm, blood brother, it was a nice massacre.

    Hmm, for DPS:

-Did they have a greeting at the start?
-Is my tank being annoying (start/stop pulls, super squishy/eating all TBs straight, etc)
-Did they stay above me on the enmity list for most of the run? I don't use ACT, and I realize the list isn't a surefire way to view how well a person is doing...but I have been on plenty of runs where the DPS is in the 4th spot, on a boss, with no mechs that would force them to stop DPSing.
-Did they use Peloton? I really love me some Peloton.
-Were they generally nice/helpful? Granted most runs are silent, but now and then people will chime in.
-Do I like how their character looks?

I don't require all items to be ticked, but those are some of the main thoughts that go through my head when it comes to comm time. :3

It completely depends on how my mood at the time influences my perception of how the people do.

    1. If there's a person that's new to the dungeon and doesn't die a whole lot = comm
    2. Dragoon = comm That's a difficult class to get comms on so they usually get mine out of sympathy.
    3. Bard or Machinist using Peleton between pulls and utilizing all of their AoE abilities on trash pulls.
    4. FemRoe always get a comm, regardless of anything else.

    5. Number one, most common reason I give a DPS a comm; if they give the tank a second or two to gather the mobs after a long pull before going HAM. The same goes for getting aggro on a boss. I used to tank and appreciated that courtesy from the DPS.

I usually give DPS the comm because tank and heals always gets it. Also, sometimes theyre the last person to leave, so they get it by default.

    Thanks for answering the question.

If I queue for a duty as a tank, I usually give the healer a commendation.

If I queue for a duty as a healer, I usually give the tank a commendation.

If I queue for a duty as a DPS, I usually give a DPS a commendation.

The only exceptions are if a particular player stood out as exceptional, or I'm queuing with a friend and need to throw the commendation somewhere random.

I honestly don't think this is true anymore, sure back in Heavensward I used to bathe in comms on a tank, now I rarely get them even if I'm kicking ass and taking names.

As for who I comm it does depend on what job I'm on, if I'm the tank then I generally give it to the healer if they seem to know what they are doing, if I'm on a DPS I will look to the other DPS, it's kind of up to them to lose it and sadly, many do. Just put some effort in and look alive and they probably get it from me.

I usually have to be fast to even toss one at someone so I'm usually just picking one at random. My criteria is usually whoever sticks around long enough after an instance is over. lol Or nobody at all if it was a particularly dreadful run.

I very rarely give any coms whatsoever. But I do have some general criteria

    1. You must do your mechanics correctly. Failure to do mechanics no matter what role unless you are new means you are disqualified for me
    2. Your glamour must not be stupidly naked or mismatched
    3. You must perform your job to a basic degree. For dps this means no freestyle samurai, cryo mage, "im a lancer main" etc healers is you must do dps during the 50%+ of the fight you won't need to heal and tanks you must use your mitigation and move the boss correctly
    4. You must not be a lalafell, bard or blm. I have a hatred of all 3, the former are creepy, the latter caused me too many frustrations and jealousy over the years thanks to continuous buffs from yoshida and too many blm being lazy and not moving. Bards for annoying me in limsa or gridania

To earn the com as opposed to not being disqualified, you generally need to do something good that is head and shoulders above the others. Save the run perhaps, sac yourself to save the healer. Or even carry the rest of the raid because everyone other than me (and on the rare occasion when im not doing well, including me.
