    House decorating mechanics/tools

Is this what the devs use?

Cause it is clunky and difficult and if this is what you make your developers use to create in game locations you need to be put on trial for human rights violations.

I have played many other games with housing. And this is one of the worst designed ones I have seen as far as the actual mechanics of placing objects.

Request you just completely overhaul it. Look at games like RIFT and Elder Scrolls Online for better examples of how to do it.

The dev team probably created locations in an out-of-game program like most game devs do.
But I do agree that house decorating system needs an overhaul. :B

My post history (which is minuscule) will show that a game, that launched in 1997, Ultima Online, had a better house decorating system than this one in less than 5 years after launch. I have no idea why we can't get something better than what we have in this day and age.

There's a 3rd party program that makes the decorating much easier- it basically gives you the overhaul everyone is asking for when it comes to item placement
I'm not suggesting anyone use it since it's against TOS but it's likely that the devs aren't listening- atleast they aren't listening to NA housing forums AND they don't partake in the housing decorating that players do, otherwise the housing would have been updated long ago

Wildstar was my best housing experience & nothing will come close
The themes you could create were just about limitless
You could resize anything, flip it upside down/ rotate every object - change the lighting per room, change the music per room
Want a giant lake that turns into a small stream? done
Want a empty void crater with a black hole in the middle that takes you to another dimension that ends up being a massive space ship? DONE sounds crazy, but it was REAL

Was fortunate enough to get to see some amazing houses and communities in Wildstar right before it got shut down. I spent days just running around in awe at some of them. It's so sad that all that effort and creativity is just gone forever.

I don't think it's too much to ask S-E to allow floor objects to be placed on lofts at the very least. It wouldn't solve every issue with housing design, but it'd be a huge step in the right direction without giving expansive options to manipulate objects.

I miss Star Wars Galaxies housing. ANY item in the game could be dropped and used in the house as decorations whether it was furniture, weapons, armor, random junk loot, etc. But most importantly? It could all be rotated along any axis and moved freely. You could also specify how many "units" (how far) you wanted to move the object. You could either use the chat system for this or the item's menu via the tilde key. For example:

    Drop a book
    Target the book
    /Move forward 40
    /Move up 220
    /rotate yaw 90
    /rotate pitch 45

Congratulations, that book is now on a shelf leaning against it's wall or whatever.
