NFTs are just high tech beanie babies

NFT, Blockchain and crypto can die in a fire.
I don't think it'd work out as planned due to how drastically laws and regulations can differ between various countries. Note how each time some sort of promotion is held for a mount in FFXIV only players residing within certain regions are permitted to participate.
What happens if the law changes in a specific country? How will the business keep track of all the transactions being made and the integrity of legal agreements? What measures will be in place to protect the consumer and service provider against hacking and scamming?
A significant amount of money would be spent on legal fees and cyber security which would inevitably eat into the amount of resources available to make a game into an actual game.
Blockchain tech can certainly be leveraged for dupe exploit detection. OTOH I suspect the context here is for some form of microtransaction. As somebody else pointed out cryptocurrencies and NFT's are headed for some heavy regulation in many countries.
Yea its people going crazy over.....a receipt of some sort? I don't understand the draw of NFTs. NOW if the technology would mean I can authenticate my Relic weapons from FFXI and I could then get them as glams for FFXIV or w/e future SE projects...... >_>; but that still doesn't address the actual programming and coding to port those skins forward into XIV's engine (or future games' engines), NFT tech would still only be just a good solution they might consider for verifying player progress in this dumb hypothetical i put forth
