I was reading through the statement concerning Endwalker's delay (https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...5ce5b1eab136ee) and the final paragraph really stood out to me:
We will continue to do our utmost to bring you the best experience not only in Endwalker but also through further updates and content that will follow, restoring your trust one step at a time.
I've seen several threads pop up talking about the gripes and disappointment people are feeling about the delay. And I've seen my own sentiment reflected by various players in different thread responses. But if the complaints have their own threads, I wanted to make one for this sentiment, too.
To Yoshida-san (and team): I know, from statements shared in various documentaries and interviews regarding 1.0's fall and the rise of ARR, that building and maintaining trust with the playerbase (especially the Legacy players that stuck by the project at its lowest) has been a guiding principle for you since you took over as Director/Producer. Its clear that it is personally very important to you, as well as to several other members of the team. Speaking for myself (and I suspect many other players), this delay has not caused us to lose trust in you or your team. Its trust you have rightfully earned through consistent effort over the last decade and it is not so easily tarnished. If anything, the circumstances of this delay are an example of your good judgement, and showcase exactly why we do trust you.
To be completely honest, hearing that so much attention was paid to the fine narrative and user experience details of this grand finale of an expac that it delayed stability QA actually has me MORE hyped. (A circumstance I didn't know was possible.) I am glad they wanted to make it perfect and allowed the time to do so, even if they missed the deadline slightly. This expac is going to be a BIG deal for all of us who have stuck with the game so far, both veterans and sprouts. I'm glad the team is treating it with the attention it needs and deserves.
Even if it still sucks that I have to wait two more weeks. lol
So yeah tl;dr -- Yoshi-P, you haven't let us down when it counts, yet; and I really don't see you starting now. You have not lost this gamer's trust. And I just wanted to make a thread to say it.
