This has me scratching my head since August. Everytime I play FFXIV, my system crashes (BSOD) Event ID 41 (which basically means it can be anything) and it's only FFXIV and literally nothing else.
I even tested this theory. I booted up Cyberpunk 2077 (something I haven't played since January) for benchmark purposes and played it for hours. I monitored the heat and usage of my cpu, ram, and gpu. I cranked the setting to 4K ultra. CPU hottest temp was 67 C and GPU was 71 C. Played it for hours. No issues.
Exited out of Cyberpunk and booted up FFXIV. Played it for 10 minutes. Hard crash to BSOD. My CPU temps were 46C and my GPU was 65C. So it's not a heat issue.
Other things I have tried:
1. Reseated the RAM and ran a memory diagnostic. All clear
2. Reapplied thermal paste
3. Unplug and replugged all connectors on both sides.
4. Ran intensive CPU and GPU benchmark programs
5. Moved FFXIV from one m.2 to another m.2 (in case the m2. itself was corrupt)
6. All drivers are updated
7. Ran scandisk for any errors
8. Made sure any anti malware programs were not the issue
9. Reinstalled Windows
Ive ran several games to make sure it's not a widespread problem and every game i ran i also ran for several hours to make sure it was fully tested. I ran Cyberpunk, AOE 4, Baldurs Gate 3, Pathfinder, Microsoft Flight Sim (which is resource intense), Red Dead Redemption 2 and a couple others.
All games run smooth with zero issues. And, as I stated earlier, Ill boot up FFXIV and it causes my desktop to crash anywhere from 10 minutes into gameplay up to a couple hours. I even had the game crash while I was watching the Shadowbringers cinematic trailer (when it pops up if you're idle at the log in for too long).
Here are my PC specs:
Ryzen 7 3200X CPU
32 GB DDR4 RAM (3200 mhz)
Zotac 3080 RTX
Corsair H115 capellix AIO
EVGA 220-G5 Super Nova PSU (750)
2 crucial 1 TB m.2 storage cards (3rd gen)
X570-P asus MB.
I just purchased a CORSAIR RMx Series (2021) RM850x CP-9020200-NA 850W on newegg this Friday to rule out power (although I am pretty sure this wont fix the issue as other games I have played had required a lot more power to run). But fingers crossed. If the PSU wont work, Ill then trying to upgrade my CPU (but i doubt it's that either)
TLDR. System only crashes while playing FFXIV. PC runs fine when other games are used as a benchmark comparison.
