Yeah, that was my first thought as well. I would have been gutted, honestly, if that was what happened. Thankfully it wasn't though!
Leave WoW over in Toxicville. We don't need anything WoW here. I am happy with Yoshi-P deciding to make a better quality game. Something WoW is clearly NOT capable of.
I come back for content, I leave when I'm done.
No game gets played every day forever.
Don't forget Warlords of Draenor.
They never finished it and went one year long without a patch.
I'm going to be honest, I wonder what Yoshida's team would be able to pull in a year of no-patch.
These 6 months of XIV have been quite something, everyone went to old objectives they never had the motivation before.
The game is doing good and I believe Yoshida, while not meeting everyone's expectations, definitely earned his playerbase trust.
What's one more delay if they say they need said delay.
Actiblizz has less of an excuse, WoW is still bigger and has been since the beginning they have astronomically more resources at their disposal.
They could probably tbh have completely negated the pandemic if they had just invested into it.
Post needs otters...

They're 6 months behind schedule due to covid but even then they've still been remarkably consistent.
Siege of Orgrimar was 13 months at the end of Pandaria
Last patch was 13 months at the end of Draenor
Last patch of Legion was 13 months as well.
Last patch of Battle for Azeroth was 11 months.
Blizz is terrible with their final patches.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
