I like the new release date. (It just should have been announced sooner)

I work retail and trying to take vacation during a holiday is a joke at best. Having it pushed to after new years is what the original launch schedule should have been from the start. I understand people took time off that could and my only criticism is the timing for the postpone. Let people know sooner, but better yet don't release during a holiday. Yes I'm focusing on the Savage release date since that's the part that's actually time sensitive. You can do story at your own pace. (Again the timing for when we were informed of the change is bad).

I mean, I don't necessarily like when something I was counting on is delayed, but it's also only 2 weeks. I've grown accustomed to having my plans thrown out the window lately so...eh. Honestly, when the stream started up and they started talking about bad news I thought someone died or something. They were super grim. Uncomfortably so, actually. Then they were like "sorry, 2 more weeks of of waiting" and I was actually a bit relieved. It's not an ideal situation for everyone involved, and it affects my schedule as well, but I can respect Yoshi P (and most likely by extension the dev team) for wanting to make sure everything is as perfect as possible for launch. When he said that the game was his life's work he clearly meant it. Like you said though it probably could have been handled a bit better. Even a week or 2 notice would have allowed some people to make other plans. Most people aren't upset by the delay itself. They are upset by the lack of communication beforehand, which is completely understandable.

I also work retail and the first leave I took was a bit hard, as that was prep time for Black Friday, getting it swapped to the newer date wasn’t as big an issue. That’s the week following Black Friday so it will have slowed down at least for me. At least for that tiny bit of time.

Working retail as well, November and december are blackout months for us. So all requests for time off in these two months are denied by the entirety of the company, sadly. I see people saying they got time off-- and I only wish I could've had two weeks in these months (just as a break from work in two weeks this month lol).

December is better for me as well. I just wish they'd told everyone much sooner. Whether or not you think its good or bad to book days off to play it's obviously a shitty situation for things not to turn out right.

I just hope the team don't need to crunch too hard for this final stretch.

I feel like most retail workers have the same experience. Holidays usually have two weeks or more blacked out. It's really depressing when releases are on the busiest hardest to get off and enjoy times. I hope SE don't schedule more on days like the original release dates.

Same scenario here. Approached my boss with a "heeey guess who can help prep for back Friday noooow! :]" and managed to get my time off later AND extended because some cosmic force prevented my boss from finalizing the schedule and thankfully the 3rd is 2 weeks away from another blackout week.

Just wish I could've slept better last night >_<

I'm totally okay with the new release date as well. Personally, while it did disrupt my schedule it didn't make a huge difference for me either way, but even if it had, I would still feel the same - this decision was made out of love and passion to want to release the best possible content and give the best and most stable experience for everyone. In an ideal world, sure, it would have been done with more notice, and so on... but I have nothing but understanding for the motivations behind it. If I were in Yoshida-san's position, I would probably have made the same choice, even knowing that many people would be unhappy.

(But also, it seems that lots of people ARE fine with it - I've seen a lot of angry posts for sure, but in the stream chat and on discord and twitter I saw pretty much nothing but supportive messages for the team.)

I am tech support in Canada dealing with US customers, and the rest of the team is in the US, so now I can cover their thanksgiving time off, so works out well for them lol
