How Do We Explain Ryne?

So, firstly, if you haven't played Shadowbringers to the end, don't read any further. Please. No spoilers.

Now that that's out of the way.

So Ryne is from the first. She's also part of the Trust. We know that the Trust is carrying over to Endwalker (hence the recommendation we level up our Trust NPC's before then).

We also know that we are getting Estinien as a Trust NPC in Endwalker.

So my question is, will Estinien be replacing Ryne in the Trust?

If not, how will they explain her presence in the Source for dungeons?

This question has been bugging me and the only thing that makes sense is that she won't be able to do any dungeons except Shadowbringers... unless Graha finds a way to bring her to the Source... but why would he? How would they bring Ryne to the Source?

If she just magically appears in our trusts in the new dungeons.. please have at it. But as we have no idea what's happening yet or where, maybe cool it on questions nobody could possibly answer right now?

Ryne will likely be replaced by Estinien since she's a DPS and he's a DPS. It's an easy switch and easily explained - so her name will likely be faded out or no longer present in instances taking place in Endwalker.

Edit; In addition. If she can only be utilized in Shadowbringers content - there's no point in leveling her up beyond 80.

I think there'll be an extra slot for Estinien.

And Ryne will only be availaible to pick for Shb content (and Estinien for EDW of course)

Infact, a collab with that game would be an excellent way to introduce the new system.

Summon a vision of Ryne in the source or Estinien on the first as needed, with the FFBE characters introducing the system to them.

They most likely won't.
During the first go at a dungeon you've got a specific selection of characters that are cannonically present at the time, after that you can return in the dungeon with characters that shouldn't have been around at the time of the events. It'll be just the same.

Not sure why this is an issue...? We already have temporary npcs in the forms of Lyna and the Exarch version of G'raha, so just punting an NPC out of the selection screen for specific dungeons obviously isn't an issue. I seriously doubt Ryne would just show up in Endwalker dungeons, as she has her own life to live on the First and there's no valid reason for her to just somehow traverse the Rift "just because."

To be honest I am a little surprised they didn't simply slap Riol in for Rynne. What I am curious about is Alphinaud. If he changes to Sage will he be Sage in Norvrandt zones too or is it a variable change?

Yep, was going to post this as well. We already have Scenario (Story) mode and Avatar (anything goes) mode. Heck, in scenario mode we may even have extra characters added as needed that aren't even Scions at all like Lyna for Holminster Switch. Now, for general story Trust concerns you could say that Estinien does replace Ryne as they are both melee DPS but I'd imagine it will just be a case where whichever characters are available will just depend on the story with Graha still being able to flex roles as needed.

Scenario Mode in EW will likely not have Ryne, unless you need to scramble in The First for a dungeon (doubt so. Let that place rest already until maybe 7.0). You have Einstein who replace her.


Avatar Mode just mean that you play with the Trust of your desire. There is no lore reason behind it outside helping your other jobs to level up when roulette refuses to cooperate, and a goal for grinders who want a change of Trust outfits.
