I will say one thing, If "companies" turn out to be total horseshit and are more watered down fetch quest type garbage that any half a tard second grader could finish blindfolded, then I see a grim, grim future for ffxiv. This is something they NEED to get right the first time around. So very looking forward to seeing what they have planned for us.

EDIT: What I hope they do is release the info on what they have planned, then use a few months to obtain feedback from us before implementing anything.

    Why?

What's important is how the game is shaped when the PS3 version is released. It doesn't matter how shitty or good Company system is during the transition period. They have months to expand on it even if it ends up being lackluster initially.

i say it needs to be little more then lackluster, ps3 players are only the half of us, the other half is here. but yeah i was excited thinking player run, and as i kept reading people started adding in there npc run 2cents and now i'm just like wtf worried.

guess we'll see though, can't wait to see what's in store for us. as i think bout it player run or npc run what would be the diff? i didn't expect the ship to be actually flown by us so maybe same thing?

Companies NEEDS to be good, is the first real update from the new team . So far all we have been given from the new team is tweaks and lite additions such as sp increase , simple quests and a agro icon that is completely out of place.

If companies fail to be "good" and polished. Then new team is as bad as the old team.Delay it more, show details , let people discuss , take ideas, test , test, test, few more test, polish polish polish ,, oh yea more polish. Then maybe , release.

If they bring yet another unpolished and unfinished substance lacking mechanic, then that only means the wait have been for nothing. It is more crucial than what people think. Its the very first real update from yoshida, not some "patch" to fix minor thins.

Hope they know what they doing.

WHY??? because pc players already payed to get this game and many payed alot to meet the high standards and requirements your pc needs to run the game thats why how many I7 rigs were made not just for but mostly because of ffxiv and high hopes and expectations for it? that sh@t aint cheap, lmao thats why my friend!

No system launches perfect though I'll be very happy if Companies launch in a good state. Yoshida's stance on many issues is that he doesn't want to put it in the game unless it has a reasonable purpose. In one interview I believe he said he wanted to make sure players had some reason to interact with companies before putting them into the game. That alone puts him ahead of the old team I think.

If the company system launch doesn't go well at least we can influence it and give suggestions on improvements. Even if the launch of companies does go well, we can still offer suggestions so it's hard to lose here.

Betelgeuzah has a point though, no matter how things are now the big day is PS3 launch. That is the most important day in the past, current and future history of FFXIV as it is the game's second chance.

So, ever since i first read about "Companies" imma throw out some of my
    speculations and thoughts about this.

I think companies will be something for High level classes,
this however seems rather odd because obviously rank 50 isnt the final level cap.

So ya i base my specualtions on high level classes, if it's for Mid/low level classes
im sure there would be some rewards of EXP /SP aswell, but for now im excluding that option.

So what could Companies possibly reward / offer high level players? (something to discuss)

Some ideas... - Possible Spoiler Alert -

    Terratorial control?
    Company rank / status?
Rare gear / items / materials?

Something tells me im getting close because of SE's previously
announcements saying something like Company owned houses / ships.

Besides that what do "Companies" usually do?

    The Company:
Work as a team (Company) to build something together using the members crafting skills perhaps.
Battling monsters for area control, Company rank etc.

    Company Crafting:
With the current crafting system in place, i see no reason for what i just wrote
above would not be connected with "Companies".
This might include craftable "Furnitures" for the "Company House",
maybe even Cannons for the "Company Ships" for example.

    Company Battles:
Companies in Battlefield could be anything from offense to defense using ships (possibly sea battles)

    Hamlet's:
And then there's "Hamlet's", im pretty sure those Stone-structures (Forts) in
Coerthas are "Hamlet's" and serve a purpose for defence, possibly for area-control.

    Company Houses:
Well, dosent take a rocket scientist to figure this one out.
I dare to say this is the new "MH", but diffrent ofc, i just hope it get's more interesting.
Possibilty to have Company Meetings, share crafted items,
gear etc in a Company Bank-vault or something.(Much like WoW guildbank)
But not just for sharing, but maybe collecting building materials for a "Company ship" etc.

But hey...these are just pure speculation & ideas.

Now some of what i'd like to see:

    * Company Banner (With Company Name on it, for the Company House)
    * Some kind of Company "Tabard" / "Cape" (not like WoW's Tabard, they just lame)
    * Company Vault / Bank
    * Craftable furnitures. (obviously for the Company House)
    * Some sort of in-game Calendar to set up Company events so members can sign up for ingame.
    * Company Chocobos + Lance = CHARGE !!!!

Edit: Sorry for bringing up some WoW ideas, but it did have some great features.
And no i dont play WoW anymore, it got boring fast after 3 years.

    Ninjarrrr Edit:
i hope my speculations didnt spoil anything, cuz hell i know as much as anyone else. lol

so what u mean companie could be something like where your group will be a LS... do stuffs together like how laughlyn explain it... lets say a lil bit of PVP action? i mean when i was playin XI back on 05, we used to have ballista... where we used to kill our self lol... idk now... but hey if it something like that oh man i cant wait for it!! i mean that give us a great deal on working together as a group... or with ur group lets just say "linkshell"... lol i mean a lil of pvp action wont hurt u know hehehe

I am excited for companies! I have great hopes for this concept. Things that have been lacking in the LS could be fixed with these companies (guild bank).

Having a company store and other company owned living spaces, or outposts, give players a true feeling of ownership in the game.

Also it will really build on player teamwork.
