It's now clear that the MSQ gating of expansions has nothing to do with 'story integrity' and everything to do with pushing 'boosts'.

There is absolutely no reason why someone couldn't CHOOSE to skip old and in good part obsolete content and dive straight into the latest expansion .. there are clearly many way to level a job to the required level .. so SE's locking of content is simply there to coerce new/returning players to pay cash to be able to get into the current content.

as someone who used the lvl and story skip i feel i should comment. Players aren't required to use these items if they want to play though the game they are really meant for if your friends want to join you in the current expansion with out needing to play catch up. Also they are useful if you have an alt on a different world and don't want to drag ya self though old content as someone who has 8+ alts it would be a pain

Your reply shows why you don't see this as a problem, one that'll drive away a LOT of players who don't raid when they can't play the MSW without enduring 24-man raids as 5.3 will force them to do .. likely SE simply wants to see more MSW boosts to those of us who don't raid, hate raiding and will cease playing if there's no way round it.

I would like to be able to skip specific expansions though. I have a few alts that I have boosted via the story skip, but when new expansions out it becomes either do the new story or buy another skip that's very expensive since it has it all. I've found it's better to just story skip a new character at that point because at least I get extra retainers and stuff.

well... if your friends want to play with you... play with them. you can join them for any dungeon. and you can do trials and raids together on lvl 50.
