I don't think it's that, I just don't think it serves a purpose in an MMORPG or RPG people. Button mashing I didn't mind in MK, SF, Enslaved Oddysey to the West...games like those. However when I pick up an RPG, I do not want button mashing. I play an RPG to enjoy a story and the journey of characters...if I wanted to play a "choot em!" up game, I would.

Ok lets talk rpg games, Skyrim/oblivion/morrowind... guess you hated those as well.I don't think it's that, I just don't think it serves a purpose in an MMORPG or RPG people. It is my opinion that the button-mashy/mouse-clicky to attack thing only works if you don't have a targeting system. Something like Champions Online's or Tera's system only really works because you couldn't target the enemy, you just pointed in their direction.
That being said I think I was the only person who liked those systems, and something like that wouldn't work here, so I'm going with no on this one. I like the current battle system quite a bit, even if I can't backflip out of the way of an incoming attack.

This game is not anymore we hit skills for combos and activate buffs we do not have to spamm a single button over and over just to enable us to do the skills for combos.
I liked the "Action" combat in DCUO but that combat and this game does not fit. That is a high Comic Style super hero fantasy game this is more realistic back in the day + tech fantasy. Doing backflips and front flips and side rolls all would kill off the player base of FF MMOs forever I think.
Plus in the end that was button mashing too just lots of mouse buttons.

That's why I said would you like to have him build up on the old battle system, make it its own thing. There didn't have to be a targeting system at all he could have changed that. I think if yoshi built upon what was already there, this game would be even better than it is now.It is my opinion that the button-mashy/mouse-clicky to attack thing only works if you don't have a targeting system. This is what I said but said better. Thank you Keith. This game is not anymore we hit skills for combos and activate buffs we do not have to spamm a single button over and over just to enable us to do the skills for combos.

Did you conveniently skip this?
/thread, really.with the directional combo system, the skill ceiling for every physical dps job/class in the game is much higher than it ever was. and if you want to mash 1 a bunch while you dps, we still have that. it's called archer/bard.
calling the auto attack/combo system "cheap" and "safe" is pretty hilarious when i can almost guarantee the vast majority of players haven't even begun to approach the skill ceiling for each job/class.
when you can hit 160 end dps (single target) on mistress with melee, then let's talk about how 'easy' the combat system is. until then, stop making stupid threads. i'm convinced at this point that you only do this for attention.
Actually, no, I'm a huge fan of TES. However the fluency of which the game was coded and worked is different from this game. Those games were strictly offline, single player console games. They do not have to take lag into consideration from another person's ISP. It can be coded different. You know those games all play on either a PC format, Xbox Format, or Ps3 Format.
However, this is an MMORPG. I imagine that when it comes to coding and such that makes things a bit more difficult to match up with one ISP to another I imagine.
But without even all the ^ I just mentioned. The animation and fluency of the animation is not the same as Morrowind's, Oblivions and Skyrim's. I can flat out run in those games. I can play from a 1st person POV.
Here, the animation is laggy, the servers are laggy cause everyone is in one place all the time and I don't think you can play 1st person POV that I know of, I could be very wrong on that.
FFXI and FFXIV were not given the same sort of coding moving fluency as TES series.
