even tho NTT is XIV's ISP they cannot "force" them to do anything if that connection isn't their own local one in California that directly serves the game. anything beyond that is out of Square Enix's control.

I've been having connection issues as of late as well. No history of problems and anything else I have going on at the same time is fine so it's not my internet connection.
I'll just randomly experience severe lag (the entire game dropping connection, not just input delay) that may resolve itself in a minute or two but often ends with me getting booted from the server entirely. On attempt to log back in, I'll get an error about the character not having been logged out properly. There have also been occasions where the game hasn't even initially been able to find/load my characters at all to select the one I want to load after getting booted and trying to log back in.
System: Steam
Server: Crystal/Coeurl
Connection: Wired
No specific error message at connection loss, just a complete lost connection and then game disconnect
Resolution method: Just having to wait an indeterminate amount of time. Sometimes I can get right back in, sometimes it takes 10 or 15 minutes
How often: Full forced disconnect maybe once a day with massive lag spikes maybe twice a day. It's not constant but it's only started happened in the last two weeks or so and I've never had any issues previously unless I knew it was actually an issue with my ISP (and in those cases my entire internet connection was out)

I'm pretty sure that's their network team's job to open a ticket with NTT and get the issue resolved. It's affecting SE's business.

I'm living in Eastern EU not in USA, but experiencing similar issues every evening. This traceroute I did 10 min ago:

Seems the Chicago link died again. Me (from Michigan) and 2 friends both from Indiana all got disconnected at the exact same time.
Also over 600 players in queue when it came back online. So this clearly points to a problem that is outside of the players hands.

Still getting small packet loss this morning, although I wasn't playing at the time.
It's the specific node of 195.82.50.230.
I'm also connected through it, and in the last few days, there are periods of time when game is unplayable due to massive lags. Apparently it's the 195.82.50 which has a lot of bad IPs like that.
For more than a week it's been like this..

WHY is this still happening??? What is your network team doing about this? Good luck with the launch. <smh>
... and the scriptbots don't help with support either..
------------
Thank you for contacting Square Enix Customer Support.
We apologize for the issue you are having. The issue you are describing is most associated with interference with the game data. Most of the time, it results from certain security/privacy changes on Internet Explorer. Other times, it occurs when an application running in the background causes interference, such as anti-virus software, firewalls, media players, web browsers, communications software, etc.
Please make sure all background applications (including anti-virus programs such as Norton, Kaspersky, Windows Defender, etc.) have been disabled and/or closed to minimize game interference before attempting to log in.
Ensure that the latest version of Internet Explorer is installed on your PC (even if you don’t use Internet Explorer). Please do not use Microsoft Edge for these steps, as that is a different Internet platform.
Once Internet Explorer is up-to-date, please open the Internet Explorer browser’s “Internet Options” by clicking on the “Tools” option (or type Alt+X), then click on the “Internet options” setting. Please adjust the following settings:
- Under the General tab, please delete ALL browsing history by clicking on the “Delete…” button, then selecting all of the options and clicking “Delete” again.
- Under the Security tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible setting, or no higher than “Medium.”
- Under the Privacy tab, look for the Settings section and click on “Advanced,” then Accept First-party Cookies and Third-party Cookies, then check the box that says, “Always allow session cookies” and click OK.
- Under the Advanced tab, look for the Settings section and scroll towards the bottom of the list and check on the setting under Security for “Allow software to run or install even if the signature is invalid.”
- Under the same section, make sure that all ‘Use TLS’ options (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are checked. [Use SSL 3.0 should be unchecked]
Hit “Apply” then “OK” to save the changes.
Please RESTART your PC now.
Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select “Run as Administrator.” This option can also be set permanently by Right-Clicking on the FFXIV launcher icon, selecting Properties, then under the Compatibility tab, check the box that says “Run this program as an administrator” and clicking OK.
If the suggestions provided above do not resolve the issue, there may be a communication error.
Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that the following Port Ranges have been opened/forwarded/triggered:
▼TCP
54992 through 54994,
55006 through 55007,
55021 through 55040
*You may learn how to do this by visiting http://www.portforward.com/
Find your specific router's brand and model number from the 'List of Routers' and you will be provided a step-by-step guide on how to access these port settings.
Otherwise, your ISP may forward these ports for you.*
If you have properly configured your router, and you are still experiencing these issues, our next suggestion is to bypass the router, and connect your computer directly to your modem. Please ensure that you power down both the modem and the computer for at least five minutes before attempting to connect to FINAL FANTASY XIV.
If you continue to receive these same errors when you are connected directly to the modem, then the problem lies with your ISP. We would recommend contacting your provider and advising them that one or more of the ports previously provided to you are being blocked or filtered, and that you do need access on these ports.
If you have the need for additional assistance, please contact us back and we will be happy to assist you. We hope you have an excellent day!

This has been an issue for me over the last week or so too! daily dc's! it seems to mostly happen when i do something other than just sitting in a city!
if i craft, i end up dc'ing sometimes, dungeons = dc, Raids = dc, gathering = dc!
if i sit idle in a city/house, the game is just fine!
this has never been an issue at all before! its a new thing! atleast for me!
its getting really freaking frustrating! to the point where i get no joy out of the game anymore! because as soon as i do something, i start lagging ( packetloss ) ffxiv is the only game that lags out for me aswell! its not chill at all!
100% not on my end at all!
