My bets on either a Garlean Magitek type or Ampadoor Light based type.

Man I'd love this.
I'm a real sucker for classes super couched in lore.
Having a Mage that casts specifically to disrupt ones Astral/Umbral balance is such a compelling idea, especially since we've gotten a few tastes now of what Astral aether can really do to someone.

~sigh~
Is Time Mage basically Astro?
Considering the thematic role of time in FFXIV especially as of late I think it'd make sense.

Light based DD would be cool.
Pretty happy with the visual of Reaper, so taking the old desire of dark based transformation job and moving now into FFXVI / FFXII Esper based concepts (primal-y). Transformation based mean that is the core concept, not a cool accessory to the job but a primary piece (like Druid in WoW). Naturally it'd not be multi role (unless limited job.... but I'd like for it to be 'main'-able), so the concept of transformation would be more of a hardcore conceptualization of Summoner where each form has a different vibe and a mix of picking the right form for the situation along with some mechanic that makes it a bit more 'reactive' rather than 'predictive' as I feel that would fit the class imagery better. Reactivity may be internally built too a bit like sometimes certain forms are encouraged like proc systems you might see in bard, dancer or other jobs (in my mind it's fluid and while maybe not exactly 'beastial' would be reactive and not a predictive style job, so encouraging that through mechanics over creating the perfect transformation rotation that is relatively static for each boss would be ideal imo).
Still also partial for a bruiser mage image, like Golbez or Ex-Death or even Sauron (lotr). Thinking DD, technically PLD and DRK lean that way already - though I'm thinking far more magic focused. Like punching the earth to pierce the target with a pillar, clawed hands inwards creating spheres of torrential water on the target, etc. One suggested idea then was to perhaps take Geomancer and go Geoknight. Maybe the AF armor then is very heavy duty. With some construction / engineering like gimmicks, originally I mentioned pylons that float behind your back you can place on the battlefield though maybe that is now a bit close to Sage.
