Flying's certainly a nice feature to have, no doubt, but doing the ARR beast tribe quests without flying is nostalgic. Like Sotaris said, we didn't have flying back then so the general pace was slower. Now that we've been flying for the past however many years, and the ARR beast tribe rewards aren't the New Hotness they once were, doing them these days without flying won't have a huge impact on money, etc. Personally, I love doing them without flying to enjoy the slower pace and relive the ARR days in small ways.

Flying everywhere makes the pace of the game feel faster/more rushed. Walking/running on the ground can help relieve tension and give a greater appreciation for the original content in a way that zooming everywhere via flight/teleportation doesn't provide. The ARR zones may be smaller, but they're dense with places to go, out of the way nooks to visit, flowers to sniff, and ambiance that's lacking in HW+ zones that are more open/sparse and designed for flight.

I remember the pain before flying was a thing. About a week after clearing them all, we received the words of getting flight in ARR zones in 5.3.
